Like it asks above. What's the main hall of your Skyhold like and does it say or is it meant to say anything?

In my Athena's case she has a nice fully upgraded mage throne, Andrastian decor, Inquisition glass and tapestries as well as all the mosaic pieces i can get my hands on. I wanted the hall to say that my Inquisitor is proudly Andrastian but doesn't agree with the chantry's interpretation that magic must serve man means mages should be stripped of authority. Mages are people not magic. Indeed they're the ones the maker has blessed so that they may command magic. Thus the decor being Andrastian but the seat of power being that of a mage.

I feel retaining the Inquisition glass and tapestries also lets it known that this isn't a passive force but one of action.

Unfortunately, I realized a little later, it may also just say Athena's Inquisition is just a nicer version of the Imperium.

Wow I didn't even think about that until I read that. My first character had Tevinter decor with a mage throne and Inquisition glass and tapestries. So mine was more the pro-Magic/Tevinter throne room. My second character was an elf though so I went for Dalish glass and tapestries but there's no Dalish decor(!) so I just had no decor instead. I tried out the Free Marches one for a while but the giant birds freaked me out.

Mage throne, Ferelden decor w/ Inquisition windows. In my head, Ferelden provides the bulk of the Inquisition's fighting force. My main is a fem Dalish Elf... she just likes the chair and she's sort of shedding he identity as Dalish.

Tevinter decor so Dorian can feel at home (and I like the chairs); Inquisition glass, cause, well, I lead the Inquisition; Andrastian Chantry throne to hammer it in for people I'm The Herald of bloody Andraste, The Chosen Hero, their Deliverer from Darkness, etc.; Orlesian tapestries to honor my alliance with Emperor Gaspard.

If I recall correctly I didn't care for the freemarcher statues. They look cracked. I know some enjoy the well worn look but I prefer shiny and new. That or things like well aged copper. That's nice. Just not crumbling. As for the Imperium. I really like the dragons but well as in your case between the throne and the dragons that just screams Tevinter far too loudly for my liking. Made even more so by my Inquisitor being a mage. It'd feel less like my Inquisitor was opposing Cory on moral grounds and more like they're just rivals competing for the same seat and big hat.

Why not a Ferelden decor? Wolves are important to the Dalish and after the temple of mythal you know the dread wolf may not be quite the jerk most believe he is. I was about to suggest Orlesian but I think a Dalish would find that even more offensive then a chantry decor. Huh, which group would the dalish hate the most? The Imperium, Orelsian empire or chantry? Really the free marchers or Ferelden may be the only two countries they don't dislike with great intensity.

I haven't actually tried out Ferelden decor but wolves would make so much sense, like they're warding of evil or something, thanks :) .

Chantry decor with orlais throne and inquisition everything else. My inquisitor wanted to show respect to orlais since the bulk of the game takes place there and kinda just for show to the politics of orlais. The Chantry decor is to show that skyhold was not only a place where the herald resides but a place where those who believe in the maker can feel at peace in the halls in thedas darkest hour. Inquisition everything else because at the end of the day thats what we are and if you enter my hall you will know that. While we are support of other groups we show our own flags proudly if the inquisitor throne looked better and bigger i would have that instead but it is what it is i rotate between orlais chantry and circle throne to show support for all 3.

I have a thing for the Andrastian decor.  There is a statement to be had decorating your keep with giant imposing golden statues and a throne of judgement adorned with a woman engulfed in flame.

Seriously, it's ridiculous. Freaking Cullen has holes in his roof where his bed is lol... He has to climb a freaking ladder to go to bed. Cob webs and rubble everywhere even after upgrading everything. I like some wear and tear, but I think they really over did it in this game.

It would be nice if a fully upgraded keep meant fully repaired. I'd also like to be able to see our wine collection in storage and maybe a drunk Inquisitor.

I don't care to use the Inquisitor throne until at least the first upgrade. I think the chair looks pretty uncomfortable until then. Like the light coming from the big eye would just be biting into your back the entire time you were setting there. I believe the saying goes. You can listen as long as the seat can take it.

That could be dangerous. The bad ideas Sera could put into a drunk's head could end poorly. Plus I suspect Cullen's the type to help his LI back to bed if she's so sauced she's not thinking strait.

I always felt a little awkward about decorating the main hall--regardless of what Josephine says because I'm sure those 'honoured poncy guests' are going to overlook the stolen bricks lying on the ground or the fallen chandeliers or the gaping holes everywhere even if they are not impacting the structural integrity--just because we have a fancy receiving room. I'm a little surprised no one showed up making oblique remarks about turnips again. 'Look at them, Firmin! They must think a throne makes them so sophisticated. How precious! We simply mustn't tell them otherwise, the poor dears.'

I enjoyed changing the banners around until I realised that Cullen gets one and there was my Aequitarean Trevelyan with his Circle banners telling Cullen to man up and get back to upholding his oaths to the Chantry and the poor darling has to brood in there with that in his face all day and my Pro!Templar Cullenmance Trevelyan he had to talk out of joining the Order with her Templar banners...I felt just wonderful about my choices after that.

This goes back to my gripe about the candleabra that everyone has to step over in the "prayer" room in the garden. It's so much a part of Skyhold it even made it into a cutscene laying on the floor with Cullen praying. I can handle some exterior walls needing repair but are you telling me that all my war council and the inky haven't wigged out on the repair crew and said - if you can't fix the wall on the way to war council at least move the damn bricks so we don't trip and kill ourselves!

You can see your wine collection in storage lol. I actually found out on my second playthrough. It's in one of those rooms i.e. where the library is with that big book.

the main hall of Skyhold for my elf rogue was all elven décor. From banners, tapestries, windows and what not. She did like the big wooden ferelden throne and large wooden ferelden statues.

For my human mage, she went with an all mage/circle tower type décor. Even her throne was the large mage throne.

I current character will likely do the same, themed to her own race which is qunari. However unlike the mage and rogue before her, she will likely do the main yard as a training ground and the tower a Templar tower.

Just took a look a little while ago. I have to say i was underwhelmed. I expected something nicer for a collection of insanely rare alcoholic drinks. Some nice velvet cushioning and a locked cupboard at least. Perhaps a small table in the center of the room with two or three seats. As the room is now I worry about the chargers or Sera raiding it and drinking all the good alcohol. Even the kitchen staff could take a nip here and there.

Josephine is pretty close to the room as well but I just can't see her sneaking drinks.

While the hanging mutilated corpses do make something of a stink they still do manage to add lot to the hall's atmosphere.

I do wish I could add more skulls and spikes around the place though.
