Platinum trophy.

I can't just beat on nightmare and get both trophies? It doesn't make any sense that I have to beat it once and then beat it again on a lower difficulty... Even on a speed playthrough we are talking like another 100 something hours.

Oh thank god. I love dragon age but not enough to do 2 more playthroughs right now. Any tips for the nightmare run? Trying to do it as quick as possible.

Knight Enchanter if you want to be indestructible. Or Archer Assassin for one shot deaths of enemies (this is what I used).

I think I'm going to go with knight-enchanter. Idk though, honestly I'm just looking for the most OP and effective character/party combo to breeze through the main story.

I've played nightmare as a 2 handed warrior and a mage. The mage, for me, is easier especially as a knight enchanter. The hardest part for me when playing nightmare, is the fighting before Corypheus showed up in Haven.

You can also exploit Sera's upgraded flask of fire + her focus ability; it won't use up her focus, so you can use it multiple times in one boss fight. Dragons go down super quick. ![]()

I just completed a Nightmare PT as a KE. Unfortunately I wasn't doing a speed run so I have no tips. It is a pretty OP spec though. Fade touched Obsidian on your staff is nice -- Guard on every hit.
I did do a speed run on Hard difficulty as a Templar. I finished the game in under 50 hours.

I imagine 2 handed warrior is sortive difficult. Do you remember an effective party combo for your knight enchanter?

I used Cassandra and Sera for the whole game and switched between Dorian and Solas

Just finished my nightmare playthrough with a human tempest archer, and honestly it was very doable and fast. Had a bit of trouble with the Revenants doing the Sulevin Ruined Blade quest as they are level 20+ and I was 19, some Arcane Horrors in the Plains, and that spider swarm in the Oasis, but it was nothing a couple of extra tries didn't fix.
Stealth is a very useful get out of trouble free card in terms of dropping aggro. I ran with Blackwall, Vivienne and Solas the whole way through. I also invested in the Inquisition perks granting knowledge and XP to level up quicker, specialized fast for Flask of Fire, then went farming in the Wastes for schematics/materials.I obviously crafted Tier 3 armor/weapons as soon as I was able with Guard on Hit and Heal on Kill. Upgraded health potions and Mighty Offense but only used the latter maybe 5 times the entire playthrough.
Have fun and good luck!
Edit: I used 2 mages because Dispel on the rifts is beyond useful - made them a breeze whereas they can get tricky otherwise.

Thanks this is will come in handy.
. I'm either gunna play as a knight enchanter with solas, blackwall, and sera as party members. Or as a tempest archer with vivienne, solas and blackwall. I'm trying to figure out which is the better option.
Also, roughly, how long did this take you? I'm trying to beat it as quick as possible, and therefore trying to avoid as much side content as possible. Also what level were you at the end of the game?

I've played nightmare for about every class (not spec though) and I think mage is awfully overpowered, so if you want to rush through: side with the Templars and play a mage (I only played rift mage, no KE).
I'd also not take a rogue if you are not one yourself. I'd rather have a 2 mage, 2 warrior party. Warriors to keep the enemies busy, mages to do heavy damage.
If you only play the main missions... maybe 10 hours? I don't know. Maybe even less if you really run through. I never played without any side content, even on speed runs. Depends on how good you are. And without any side content it should be harder because you hardly level up.
Oh, btw, you might decide to run through large parts. For example, you can run through the Arbor Wilds without engaging in combat until you reach the temple. Saves a lot of time. There should be more such occasions.
Next time play nightmare first, so you don't have to replay.

Lolol Ik, well normally I only play completionist PT's so I don't play on the harder difficulties because that would be to much of a pain. But yeah I'm worried about the leveling up being an issue for a speed run... Don't know how much side content I'll have to do in order to be a high enough level to advanced through.

Honestly... if you don't usually play nightmare I don't think it's sensible. I only play nightmare, so I can run through pretty fast once I know what happens. But if you aren't used to it, it will be hard to beat the game with an underpowered party (and that it will be if you don't level up).
Siding with the Templars makes it a lot easier already and you can basically skip the other missions on that path (or so I assume because you can just decide to fight Calpernia and not convince her). You can also skip most regions. The power you need to play the missions is gathered rather quickly if you do some stuff before the Haven assault and then just gather what happens anyway. But the more you rush the weaker you are.
So I could give you tips on how to advance more quickly, but how much you need to level up to actually beat the fights only you can know.

THIS! Two mages using Dispel can cut down rifts by two thirds most of the time, and in a few cases, wipe out enemies before they respawn entirely.

I've played nightmare I just prefer not too because it drags out what is already a 150 hour experience. I'm not worried about the combat, I'm just worried about how much time I'll end to dump into leveling up to beat it. I just don't want to put in more than 50 hours.
Do you know the best ways to level up quickly? If there is any lol.

50 hours is definitely possible, probably even less, if you play tactics and prepare (armor, weapons, maybe bombs and stuff).
And leveling up - do stuff.
You know all that: get the knowledge perks first, then the research table perk, then whatever you want (if you reach so many on a speed run). In that order and as soon as possible. Doing the requisitions also helps a bit. And lots and lots of fighting.
I advise you collect the perks first and don't touch any landmarks/codex entries until you have them. Because you can get a lot more XP out of all codex entries when having all four perks (me, Captain Obvious). This is also the best tip I can give you here, I don't think you can do much more.
That said, with clever strategies you can beat nightmare even on lower levels. It's not actually such a hard mode (not different from "hard" I think). I find the Haven assault the hardest battle (mage path, Templar path is a lot easier, which is why I advise you take that). I think you can beat the endgame at around level 10-14 if you play smart and micromanage. But this is just a guess, I have not checked my character levels now.

Hmm. I've read that it's good to get fighting enemies in Crestwood as quickly as possible after you get to Skyhold...because those are the lowest level enemies of the ones that become available to you at that point.
But that's all I've got.
Oh, however if you're going Knight-Enchanter then maybe you should make Cole an Archer for maximum damage dealing, and then keep him, Cassandra and Blackwall with you most of the time...That's going really well for me.

Man If there is a way to beat it at level 14, I'll be so happy.
Thanks for all the advice. After the haven assault its gets easier right?

That's probably individual perception. I find Haven hardest, especially when considering the main story. Some side quests have Templar Shadows and such foes but you are going to skip them. Wicked hearts is not so dangerous and you will also just run through the Arbor Wilds and do the ritual, not fight your way through (because the ritual is shorter, too, and requires no fighting). So after Haven there should not be many main story missions anymore. But I might be mistaken and forget something now.
As to the party, I never take a rogue unless I am one myself. And I never go without a mage. I like rift mages (Solas) because they do heavy damage, are well suited for crowd control, and spirit is the only force all enemies in the game are vulnerable to. Or Vivienne because she can revive (once but that's usually enough). I also make her an electricity mage, which is good on the Templar path because Venatori are usually vulnerable to electricity.
My favorite second warrior is Cass.
But the party composition is also highly subjective. Best you just try it out and then use what you get along with well.
And buy schematics in the Hissing Wastes, maybe craft with Snoufleur skin to make them class independent (there are many Snoufleurs spawning in the western Exalted Plains around the camp). You need good armor for that.

Then you'd have the irritation of not being able to pick locks as you go. You'd need to return to a lot of places with a rogue to get a lot of loot.
But eh, keeping Solas around is almost never a bad idea. Try it both ways in game and see which is working more efficiently for you.

He does not need the locks. There is nothing he needs to advance in any locked place and in a speed run he does not care about collectibles. He needs a strong party that can do heavy damage quickly and a rogue is a poor choice for that.
About Solas I agree.

Yeah but I'm doing a speed run so no need for all the extra loot. Plus on nightmare I've noticed so far you have to micro manage your party a lot, especially a rogue, and on PC when I play this is fine...but on the ps4 it's more difficult.
