We all know that there the Mass Effect trilogy is going to be re-released on Xbone and PS4. I know they haven’t said anything ‘yet’, but come on, EA ain’t going to turn down being able to sell us a game for the THIRD time. But that doesn’t matter, everyone if making wish lists and suggestions. Now I’m doing the same, because I just want to fit in!

There are only two things I want to throw in to the ring... Well three but the third is only because I have to.

Point One: We all know that in Mass Effect 2 they allowed us to romance more of the characters, namely Garrus and Tali, who we couldn’t romance in the first. I’d like to be able to start a romance with them or even just drop a few hints that could get a small call back in Mass Effect 2, would be nice. But that’s the least important one, I can live without it.

But point Two: Now we all remember that prior to Mass Effect 3 they talked about how there was now same gender relations and the fans applauded, myself included, but a mod on PC brought this a game earlier, even if all anyone remembers from it was Miranda and Fem’ Shep’. I think you can all see where I’m going with this, allow this standard. Allow people to make their female Shepards and romance Tali. Allow me to make my male Shepard and romance Garrus, without having to play through two games alone (That sounded more depressing than it was meant to). Bioware got a lot of respect for Dragon Age Inquisition and its two exclusively gay party members, bring some of that back over to Mass Effect. I know if they didn’t make this change most people wouldn’t notice, and I imagine most don’t even care, but come on Bioware lets go for same gender relationships through the whole trilogy and beyond.

Point Three: Now the mandatory wish for a new ending, not just the extended cut but a whole new- blah, blah, blah. We all know what I’m getting at ‘cause we all want it, but I ain’t getting in to it.

I hope someone at Bioware has had this idea about introducing same gender relations in Mass Effect 2 cause I won’t put any money on anyone reading this.

I'm honestly doubtful that they will be re-releasing them anytime soon. It would involve putting a team together to work on it, which they might to, but if they did, it would still take some time to apply the kind of upgrades necessary to justify releasing them on next-gen consoles.

That team, however, is unlikely to be given the new assets necessary to give you what you're asking for, and there are several reasons why. For one, they wrote the characters the way they did deliberately. Miranda and Garrus were intended to be straight - it wasn't a cost-cutting measure. They're not going to retcon the series with a next-gen release, and that definitely includes the ending.

In addition, they would have to re-record and re-animate additional scenes, which would require going back into production. That's a level of investment, resource-wise, that isn't likely to be appealing when faced with the fact that these games are already available on multiple platforms (a factor in the potential sales and profits that re-releasing them would see.)

Your best hope would be the addition of DLC-style content that adds additional characters to fill what you're asking for. But I have my doubts that's particularly likely, either.
