I got my first warning today. Been apart of this community since 2012. My question is though is how many warnings amount to a ban. If I'm banned. Can I still log into my DA:O account on the game. I recall someone a few years back got banned for saying "EA is the devil" it locked him out of his account from playing his games.

Is that the same case now.

Unless you've abused EA services or posted something that breaks the law. A forum ban would not be a cause to disable your account

My question is though is how many warnings amount to a ban.

The rest has been addressed, so I'll answer this one: there is no magic number for warnings to equal a ban.

You can be perma-banned with 0 warning points, or have 10 warning points without even getting a temp ban. Warning points are a tool for the moderators. Each one forms a "report" that other moderators can check that remains with your profile. They can then use these reports when assessing how to respond to violations of the site rules.

I assume that in practice, someone who has few or no warning points, who commits a minor infraction, will be considered low-risk, and is unlikely to face serious consequences, while someone with many warning points about excessive abuse towards staff or members (only an example) would face a greater likelihood of a long or permanent ban if they violate the site rules.

I probably could have made that shorter and simpler, but oh well.

That was a well thought out response. Thank you and very informative. I guess I just flipped out a bit over the warning. The rules for the off topic are not sticked here. So if I never left the off topic area. How would I find the fourm rules. They have so many sections here for english users and other languages. I wish they would sticky the off topic rules in this section.

Well, in their defense, all that stuff I just told you isn't actually part of the site rules. It's a system they've adopted since moving to the new site, but it functions largely the same way as the old system on the previous site. It's just that now, a moderator can just click on your profile to gain access to your warning history assembled in one place, instead of combing through their forum, or going through a lengthy process of asking other mods about their history with you (which is what they used to have to do.)

Here's the site rules. They can be found in the "Forum Help" sub-forum (I think it's actually the one directly below "off topic" in the main forum menu.)

Usually, a warning from a mod will contain a link to them. As with any site rules, they are somewhat nebulous, as violations are, by necessity, at the discretion of the staff and moderators.

Long story short: You should be okay, unless you consistently act like a jerk to people. :P

I don't think that's cause for concern. I been called many things. A jerk is not one of them. I go out of my way to be polite to be people. I don't see the use of being mean. My warning had noting to do with my language though.

No. According to 9 capital punishments of Bioware, your account will be terminated and you have absolutely no right for the money you paid for your games.

Yes. Even if you start a new profile from another place, they will finally find out and hunt you down!

I thought the magic number was 4? That usually seems to be the case from what I have seen (though sometimes it can be as little as 2)

Being a Jerk has nothing to do with it provided you take a pro Bioware stance. You can be as polite as you like but if somebody else gets abusive because you had the audacity to question Bioware's current policies say goodbye to your posting privileges.

Another good way to get away with being a jerk is to pretend you are a feminist and claim your "jerkiness" is just you standing against the oppression of women's rights, usually works until you oust yourself as a troll by claiming the sad weapon is a symbol of feminine superiority.
