I don't like it. I don't hate it, but I don't like it. And I LOVE blue!

I like the design, I wish the DAI conversion was less sloppy, though. Things like the shoulder straps hovering literal couple inches over actual shoulders in the medium variant are plain painful to look at.

It worked for Blackwall  ;)

he looted the silverite griffon helm (which was a big deal award) and the chestplate from the real blackwall's corpse, so he had a costume at least.

I always like having factions wear their own unique armor style.

I wouldn't know, grey warden armors revert to pajama appearance on Qunari.

I looove the new armors, ever since Legacy. I loved Larius' armor, Carver's wasn't bad either. I started a new Origins play through where I modded them in, so freaking fantastic.

I don't think the wardens have to wear the armor. Nathaniel didn't. It's all choice I believe. But yeah, like someone else mentioned, it was easier and smarter to just dress everyone in the same armor, especially since they were characters you'd be killing just seconds after meeting them... Also Loghain looks great in warden armor, really fits him, too bad he never made it to Orlais in my playthrough.

Heavy armours were just fine in DAO. It was the massive armours that were oversized. And IMO that's fine because massive armours were the top tier armours with maximum protection that supposedly made you a tank at your level. I for one simply loved the design and the look of the massive armours. Couple those with the DAI style closed winged helmets and you have a winner.

I couldn't disagree more about the armors not being oversized. Compare this depiction of a 14th Century knight with one of the armor designs from DA:O:

I love all three types. They look... military - unlike some of the stranger Inquisition outfits from the Enchanter/Prowler/Vanguard sets.

I just wish I could have decked out Bull in Warrior armour that kept the appearence, rather than it reverting to the pikey tramp look that my Mage was rocking at the start of the game. The rest of my team were outfitted in Warden armours relevant to their class and my Knight Enchanter had a Silverite Warrior suit, made my squad look like a cohesive unit. Let's hope this Black Emporium update has a set of Tier 3 versions of the schematics for sale.

But Thedas is not 14th century Europe.  It is  Thedas.  That said... real European heavy armor:

Warden's gear looked cool since the Warden commander Armor from origins even though what really distinguished was only the gryphon in the chest
DA II looked nice, but i missed the shiny textures from origins.
The ones we see in Inquisition are astonishing,i really love how the colors are more vivid, blue and silver mix perfectly
and the details in the gryphon are well drawn, both light medium and heavy versions are perfect to me
A shame there's no tier 3 wardens armor

Yup, the heavy/massive armours in DA borrow more from 15/16th century designs, which got quite more advanced/intricate. 100+ years of constant development will do that, compare cars or planes separated by similar period, e.g. ;)

Even late medieval & renaissance tournament armor (often heavier than armor worn into battle) is lot less bulky than DA:O's massive armors.

And while Thedas isn't Europe, it should have armor designs that look like they perform their intended function. You're not going to be able to fight effectively if you've got pauldrons as big as your head.

DA:I was on the right track in that regard. The proportions of some of the armor were better than in previous games. Now if only the weapons would follow suit...

(necroing the thread just to rant about it)

I don't like it at all. I really doubt that the Wardens have enough resources to spare on a shiny blue uniform for every member. It just looks so vibrant and sleek that it doesn't really fit the grimdark organization like Wardens, imo, who mostly spend their time clearing darkspawn from the Deep Roads and other pits. It would make more sense if only the ones from Anderfels wore it, since they're more involved in politics than other cells, so they would probably want to look more "presentable". Maybe Orlais, too. I think Wardens just look more better like this, instead of wearing that striped/chequered atrocity:

That's basically the design. Everyone gets a really ornate griffin themed breastplate and otherwise gets pauldrons etc. that match. Armour generally is super rare, and DA:O ignores that reality by giving everyone a suit of armour.
