As a GOSP (1) it was quite obvious reading early reports that I was not the target audience for DAI, I therefore pass on it until I could get my hands on a half price cd key.

As much as I dislike pretty much each aspects of what this game has become, I must admit they have created a good quality cinematic  LCD (2)(3) combat game with elements of role playing, and have truly open up the serie to the Skyrim crowd. Congratulation for that I guess.

Fortunately, as per master race privileges, I had no scruples using cheat codes to pass by the uninspired grinding MMO fill and focus only on the main story. I got a satisfying 80-90 hours of gameplay out of 6 world states. I must salute the quality of the writing for the main story, where it was fun to:

·         See old faces again

·         Decide the fate of many

·         Learn what others are up to.

As far as I’m concerned, I can close the books on DAO, DA2 and DAI, since all decisions made so far have now been funneled and/or are being trivialized further on. In was not supposed to be trilogy, but it turns out that way anyway.

Thank you Bioware for the good time over the years, but we our paths are obvious diverting now. I was lure into the serie for “Mature” and “Dark Atmosphere”, but the game has been turn out into a “Lollipop nobody dies and Simcity cosmetic decisions” game.

  3. I wonder if the simplistic AI is a consequence of old gen console not capable of handling graphics and decision making at the same time due to memory / hardware limitations?

I'd consider myself a GOSP too and not really a fan of skyrim, but I loved this game. Its up there with Baldur's Gate for me. :)

I don't think Bioware has ever done "dark" very well though, not in any of their games.

Why do people think they're so important they deserve an exit announcement?

I'm really curious.

Maybe they hope their exit is dramatic emough to force EA and the developpers to make an "new" game that's an kind of carbon-copy of DA:O, but with new content.

Note: I think DA:I is good as it is now. Personally I would not mind if the keep the course they are sailing now. Yep - The PC controls could use some improvement (to say it mildly), but afther sinking 200+ hours in the game I am still enyoing it.

Hmm ... That would be just your opinion though. I personally loved it even though I have many little issues with it. I love the world of Thedas and I'm dying to figure out the secrets of the elven gods, the Black City, the Fade, etc. I also really liked all the new characters in this game, especially Solas, Iron Bull, and Sera. *Eagerly awaits epic story DLC to tide me over till the next game*. I'm also a PC gamer. Bioware said they are adding further to the PC controls and I'm just using a controller for now which makes the game a lot smoother. I am playing on nightmare and loving it.

I also disagree that it's not dark. A lot of people die depending on your decisions. The whole demons theme doesn't strike me as Disney either. I found a certain main quest involving Leliana particularly haunting.

If a mic drops in the forums and no one cares to hear it, does it make a sound?

Noooooooooooooooo!!

I love that DA has this rich lore full of ancient mysteries whose answers have been lost to time. Not finding out the full truth behind them is better because 1) it's more realistic and 2) the mystery is what makes them so compelling in the first place.

How blah was the Reapers revealed compared to Reapers the unfathomable Big Bad from the beyond? How blah was it when we actually found out Wolverine's backstory?

Not knowing the answers is better sometimes...

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. 80 to 90 hours of game play is a good investment. Maybe the next one will entice you yet again to give it a try.

I think it closes out Southern Thedas quite nicely. I mean, after you've chosen the leadership of Denerem, Orzimmar, Orlais, and the Chantry, what other major choices can you do there?

Bring on Northern Thedas.

Agree. The Reapers was much better when they where still "beyond our comprehension". And I'm afraid that the eleven gods and the black city will turn out to be something similary silly once we get to know more.

Meh. Personally I found the eventual reveal of what the Reapers were and their motivations were explained was one of the more satisfying parts of the while Mass Effect saga. I've never understood why people say 'but I don't WANT explained!', it's a bit like refusing to read the last chapter of a book because it makes the story 'better'.

Then again, I realise I'm saying I enjoyed the ending of ME3, and as I understand it a kitten dies when someone says that, so I'll stop there and save the rest of the litter.

I don't think leaving the Reapers mysterious would have worked. The DA mysteries can work because the games haven't been about them in the same way that ME was about the Reapers.

Well, for me the only good thing about this game is its environments. Beautifully crafted the rest is just dull and boring
