That single pause is just a blip compared to the continuous slowdowns for me in Redcliffe. And disabling the Origin overlay for me did nothing to improve performance there. Only dropping the graphics settings helped.

Yeah there is a definite drop in frame rate in Redcliffe. people who say no are either n00bs who can't tell when the frame rate changes or they are playing on peasant settings.

With that said, I think Redcliffe is the most demanding area in the game due to all the NPC's.

I have everything on max stting and don't notice lag in Redcliffe. On the other hand, there are some short pauses in the Western Approach.

Is the grass growing on the roofs a bug? I think that can be a thing in some places in real life (maybe not now days...not sure).

Turf makes quite a good roofing material, and you can feed your sheep on it. (I seem to remember buildings used as a museum in Iceland with completely turved roofs. Quite sensible really, given that Icelandic forests are as common as hens' teeth.)

I concur. This goes for my game, as well. Even before disabling the origin overlay, I never had any lag in Redcliffe.

I've had the same issue as a pc user. Though I wouldn't call it lag, but there are definite frame rate drops when I'm there. There's also always grass growing on the roofs of the buildings there for some reason.

Grass growing on the roofs. It's called 'green roof'.

My dear...do you live in somewhere in the middle ages? It's pretty common in Scandinavia and other countries.

I can't believe some people think it's a bug or something...

I would not call it lag, but a graphical performance drop because of so many things going on there.

Try lowering the graphics to minimum and see if you problem persists. If the problem is gone then keep increasing them you hit the right spot.

Recently got SLI 970s and the game is so amazing at the moment for me. Although the lag in Redcliffe is still there! That's why I have reason to believe it's something in the area, I think the devs should really address this.

Without a screenshot, I wouldn't be able to tell if the grass-on-the-roof is was a bug as it is fairly common in some countries including my own though I wonder if it is a bother to mow. Imaging the conversation with foreign travellers: "Sorry, I gotta get home and mow the roof."

It's not a bug, I don't know where people seem to get this idea. It's in the damn cut scenes haha and if you guys have the Lore book it shows concept art of Ferelden houses with having grass on their roof.

Side note; Here's an image of my GTX 970s SLI with all settings on low getting 48fps in this area. I have also edited the OP.

(to DragonAgeLegend) Yeah, that looks like it was intentional and not a bug.

Grass like that on your roof is an excellent heat retainer in winter, and heat repellant in summer.

Or the dirt under it, whatever.

I also notice some drop in FPS Redcliff, but never to annoying levels.

A simple framerate counter doesn't tell you much. How's the GPU utilization in Redcliffe? As far as I know Redcliffe is very demanding for your CPU. If you don't see a good percentage of usage on your GPU's then both are held back by something else in that town.

Sorry, not as tech savvy as you may think. I just go by the counter, if it's low something's wrong, if it's high it's good.

For a GPU to run at full speed it also need surrounding hardware to run fast aswell. If the CPU can't keep up with a background process then other components will follow. Everything needs to be harmonious you see. The utilization-table is a crucial bit of evidence needed to make the conclusion you want. Once we know this we can try and find out more based on what we got. :)

There are several ways: EVGA Precision and MSI Afterburner are good. Just use the one you think is best for you. :) There should be options for on screen displays for graphs on utilizations, aswell on temperatures and frequencies.

I have bad lag there too, also on a PC. I play with every setting on ultra with fade-touched textures with no problem in the rest of the game. Redcliffe is strangely choppy.

Redcliffe isn't the only area with grass roofs...Crestwood has one or two. I jumped on one once...and promptly slid off. :)
