Can anybody share their build of their knight enchanter? Looking for the most OP build possible to do a speed run on nightmare.

Cheers

combine it with the inferno tree for maximum fun, the passive that lets you chew barrier to power spells is particularly useful since you generate so much barrier as KE

So just combine the KE tree with the inferno tree mainly?

I'm just looking to run through enemies as quick as possible for this playthrough. OP is the goal.

Actually, for a speed-run, a KE probably isn't the most optimal class. While they have ludicrously good survivability, their damage output is only above average. The best speed-runner is probably a Tempest running the Flask of Fire exploit to spam Mark of the Rift on every normal enemy encounter and Thousand Cuts on every boss.

If you're set on KE, though, the most important skills to get are Spirit Blade, Fade Shield, Fade Cloak (with the upgrade), Clean Burn on the Inferno tree, and Fade Step on the Winter tree for mobility. A total of 9 skill points. Everything after that is just gravy.

I've never played the tempest though, so I would have no clue how to play it. Is there a leaning curve?

Knight Enchanter

Spirit Blade

Fade Cloak + passive

Combat Clarity

Fade Shield

Winter Tree

Fade Step + passive(can get after filling fire tree)

Inferno Tree

Immolate

Flashpoint

Clean Burn

Pyromancer

Fire Mine + passive

Chaotic Focus

Storm Tree

Energy Barrage

Conductive Current? whichever one is the right side of the tree

Stormbringer (stuns something when it interrupts you)

Static Cage + passive

From top to bottom is how I would prioritize. Once you get Fade Shield you do not need any points in Spirit / Barrier IMO. Your damage will more than sustain your barrier, and proper use of fade cloak will avoid quite a bit of damage.

As others have said tho. Rogue is quicker than KE. An Archer Rogue isn't weak at all throughout the game, and if you pick Assassin or Tempest you will destroy bosses quicker than a KE could ever hope for. Normal monsters die quickly regardless of class / spec.

Depends. How good are you at pressing one button and then pressing a different button four times and then watching everything die?

Really, the only potentially difficult part is pre-spec, but even that shouldn't be too bad if you're playing as an archer. After that, all you have to do is invest ONE point into Flask of Fire to give yourself the ability to stack four Marks of the Rift on top of your enemies every 30 seconds.

Lolol, so this is more overpowered than say the KE?

Yeah you can have a mage cast static cage, and then you can flask of fire Mark of the Rfit and Thousand Cuts and insta kill any boss. I thought it was changed in patch 2 tho. IDK I used the bug for about 5 minutes before I got bored of it, but yeah if it still works you can basically delete anything off of Thedas every 30 seconds or so.

Id like to know if it got patched, before I start a tempest nightmare playthrough.

Does anybody know if it's been patched yet??

Probably, yet it still hasn't gotten the "OMG NERF PLOX!!!" treatment lol.

And yes, Flask of Fire is still unpatched.

Adding to the recommendations already given, switch to another party member during Flask of Lightning as it speeds up your character's attack speed while the AI is using them.

I was beginning a build with the following specs, for a mix of ranged and melee. Hope it helps you (I resetted my character, but I was able to solo a dragon 2 lvls higher than mine on Hard (the Hissing wastes one) with Tier 2 equipment and no Masterworks at all). I was at lvl 19 when I quit, with 3/5 possible amulets of power obtained, so there was still room for improvement:

Spirit: Barrier, Peaceful Aura.

Inferno: Immolate (+Wildfire), Flashpoint, Clean Burn -- (I was also aiming for Pyromancer, Fire Mine (+Searing Ghyph).

Storm: Chain Lightning, Energy Barrage (+Bombardment), Lightning Bolt (+Exploding Bolt), Conductive Current, Gathering Storm, Static Charge -- (This is the tree I have to rewamp the most in my next and definitive Nightmare playthought. I want the 3 last Passives, but I'll be more careful about which abilities I'll choose to get them in order to save points).

Winter: Fade Step (+Frost Step), Winter Stillness -- (Considering Winter's Grasp and Mana Surge).

Knight-Enchanter: Whole tree except for Resurgence, Disruption Field, Defending Blade and Decloaking Blast (considering everything but Disruption Field).

It has not been patched yet , and the next patch is not scheduled until late March (rumors, speculation) because its fairly big and comes with Black Emporium and all those goodies.

The Tempest is still beastly without the xploit, so just keep in mind that eventually it will probably get fixed and try to play the class without abusing 1k cuts.
