I've see this question asked a few times in various topics/replies, but no answers from Bioware that I've seen. In some of my off-forum discussions, there seem to be quite a few people waiting to play the game because theyre waiting to see if click-to-move will happen.

These questions are directed at Bioware:

* Is it reasonable to implement click-to-move in the current game engine? i.e. Same (or very similar) movement system found in DAO and DA2.

* If so, is click-to-move actively being looked at by Bioware Development folks?

* If so, what plans or other information are you willing to share at this time regarding the aforementioned issue?

I know it would be greatly appreciated by many PC players to get some 'official' information on this topic. Many folks like myself, are big fans of DAO and DA2 (a big part of which was he movement/combat systems) and would very much like to continue playing the DA series. Of my peers that I've spoken with, we were expecting DAI to be an evolution of the movement system found in DAO/DA2, kind of a 'best of both worlds', which in itself would have probably been very intuitive to players of the previous games. The last thing we were expecting was a regression (sorry, dont know how else to describe it) to a 'console style' movement system.

Thanks Bioware for all the hard work so far. Hope to hear your thoughts on the questions asked here.

I don't think so. I know auto-attack is in the works though. Sorry.

The pathfinding is just broken on tactical camera which has click to move. It cannot handle elevation.

I prefer to describe it as copying Skyrim, which also uses WASD -- and unlike DAI, you can't even switch to tactical view. Of course, you could say Skyrim's essentially a console game itself.

There's no technical reason why they couldn't implement click-to-move, obviously, since it already exists in tactical view. The question is how well it would work, and whether such performance would be acceptable. Although since WASD would still exist, it's not immediately obvious to me why pathing should matter too much. Players who don't find the pathing acceptable could still use WASD.

I am not playing DAI at the moment and decided to play ME3 again. I can't believe how fast the area and scene transitions are and how simple and more functional the M&KB controls are compared to DAI. The game also boots up from Origin in like 20 - 30 seconds.

I just cannot see why they just didn't port the ME3 control scheme to the new engine.

Click to move makes the game easier to play for people with disabilities too.

Well, I'm hoping the Bioware folks will see this topic, and give us some idea of what can/cant happen.

No luck in getting Bioware to comment on this I see. A little bumpage...

How many people prefer the click-to-move system found in the previous PC games compared to the console-style movement system in DAI?

If I am to play this game is I though I would have when I bought it, I wanted click-to-move, its how I played previous titles.  However, that was under the assumption that the game was/is a tactical one.  Given what has transpired, I would rather play this game with standard FPS controls (which means no holding right mouse button to move camera).  I know that patch 5 has this feature (sort of) however, I am staying on my Patch 2 install for now until there is a more compelling reason to upgrade.  Its running well for me so why push it.

I would assume that the expectation for click-to-move would be to allow user to left-click wherever and player moves there, this may be an issue for Bio right now since it is currently not possible to bind mouse buttons and left mouse is already attack.  Not sure why Bio is having issues with mouse binding but they appear to be.

Its not gonna happen.. Much like many other EA published titles, theyre biding time, until the population moves on.. False promises, and tiny insignificant (cheap) patches to string you along!
