Hello! I have recently bought Mass Effect 3, because I never bought it when it came out, dunno why really. But I have got into the multiplayer quite a bit. I have reached the issue of I have no idea what I'm doing. So first off, I 'main' a Phoenix vanguard (or whatever the ex-Cerberus guy is called) and I use the wraith, focussing on powers over gunfire. Is this viable and 'alright', or have I just done the worst thing you have ever heard of?

 

Secondly, what is some good classes and weapons to 'get gud' with, because I have no idea whatsoever. (though I understand this question is open to argument with different peoples preference and such).

Plz halp, I need to look cool so I can show my face around this forum without looking like a scrub.

for example, tell us which kind of characters you'd prefer. fast nimble squishy tanky sniper melee power- or weapon based. which kind of weapon would be fun for you, etc

If you wanna play with someone from here, it would be great if you posted some info about platform, timezone, etc.

It's great to play with some1 that knows the game. All classes are actually great but you have to find out what you like to play.

If you r on xbox u can send a fr (same as forum name. dont play much and definitely not the best player around BSN), but I know the game/spawns/etc & could give a helping hand getting better.

In the end it's all about havin fun after all :-)

A lot of the basic skills you learn on one class are applicable to almost all of the other kits (when to use hard vs soft cover, how to abuse right-hand-advantage, the value of headshots). Okay a class you feel comfortable with, and the sill you desire with other classes well start to come naturally. That said, many classes can have multiple playstyles, so if you don't like the way a character feels, by all means, feel free to experiment with their power evolutions.

  Well, Like I said, I like the Phoenix Vanguard, and I like low ROF high damage weapons, like the Wraith or the Argus. I like both power and weapon based characters, I have a lot of fun with the Quarian Marksman and the N7 burst fire assault rifle (I forget the name). I don't like being really squishy, but stuff like the Geth Jugger does not appeal to me either (I don't like either extreme)

Phoenix Vanguard aka Smashguard is a good character, but like most biotic classes really stands out if you get a teammate who likes the teamwork side of things and will set up/detonate biotic explosions for you. I play almost nothing but biotic classes since I'm generally on-host, and I love the challenge of having to help teammates out (much more fun than a solo IMO). I could offer you some help if you'd like.

 

Wraith is one of the best guns in the game and doubly effective for a vanguard since it is fine at lining up headshots at medium range.

I like the 'Smashguard' because if you go for the armour upgrades he becomes amazing at killing things most people have issues with, like Praetorians and the big Cerberus mech. Plus smash feels really good to use and will tear down everything.

with power- based characters + a shield-killer like the acolyte you can rock any game from bronze till platinum without having rare or good gear.

I will give more exact advice once I have more time.

human adept is a good starter. run with a charged acolyte, one-shot-strip the full shield, prime with singularity and set off the explosion

when you are good with the human adept you can move on to walking explosions like the fury or valkyrie

every enemy has its individual behavior which usually can be exploited easily (just an example: the distance when they MUST switch to melee. then you go back a few centimeters and win tons of time)

Ha. My luck. I missed the part where everyone was playing with the person where they were able to get all their URs to X. I'll probably never get them maxed at this rate. My Harrier and Lancer are still laughably low level.

Keep pushing and challenging yourself. Be more agressive than you think you are. Identify your strengths as a player and make use of them, but also get out of your comfort zone and find new ways to handle situations you find difficult. Accept that nothing is easy in the beginning, but don't use that as an excuse for not striving for excellence. Learn from your mistakes: analyze your performance, identify your mistakes and why and how you made them, and avoid repeating them in the future.

 

This may all seem very abstract, but these are all lessons that I wish I had taken to heart from day one.

I tried sending some things but origin is telling me I need to update to the Beta even though I'm using the updated Beta. Oh silly Origin.

It's a bug in the latest beta, try closing and reopening your message to that person and/or your friends list and/or origin itself, happened to me too but I messed with it and then messages would go through after all.
