The Wraith is a great shotgun. Good damage and pretty accurate. As soon as you get it (I think it's an ULTRARARE?)

Hello! I have recently bought Mass Effect 3, because I never bought it when it came out, dunno why really. But I have got into the multiplayer quite a bit. I have reached the issue of I have no idea what I'm doing. So first off, I 'main' a Phoenix vanguard (or whatever the ex-Cerberus guy is called) and I use the wraith, focussing on powers over gunfire. Is this viable and 'alright', or have I just done the worst thing you have ever heard of?
Nope, that's a pretty sweet kit and a reasonable setup (for my part, I prefer either the Venom or the Talon on the goon but Wraith is a great gun and works perfectly well with him too).
Want to get good? Look at the resource library, don't just ask specific questions- for one thing, you can only get answers to questions you know, and if you're new to the game there's probably a whole lot of stuff you don't even know that you don't know. After that, play play play, and play on a difficulty that is actually, well, difficult. Solo'ing is a good way to get better- if you can successfully extract by yourself, adding 3 teammates makes it feel like a breeze. And watching some of the videos of the mutants from this site doing 15 minute platinum solos and whatnot probably wouldn't hurt either.

My number 1 advice; avoid classes with lots of health. I firmly believe that playing on too low a difficulty with a tanky, slow class will actually make you a worse player. You get used to standing in the open and tanking damage, which will get you instantly killed on higher difficulties.
Instead, play as the classes with low shields, and avoid fitness in the beginning. You'll die a lot to start out, but you'll very quickly figure out the skills you need to survive with low shields(like Right Hand Advantage, etc) and once you have those skills, you are good to go at almost any difficulty. You'll progress much more rapidly.
Another useful thing you can do is play one level over and over on one difficulty. You'll come to know that one level very well, and since each different level has a broad sampling of terrain, you'll get a statistical sample of what different enemy types do on different terrain. When I started, I just played as a vanguard on White Bronze over and over until I could practically solo it, at which point bumped up to silver and never went back, and it only took me maybe 5-10 games to do it.
Oh, and make a conscious effort to recall where ammo boxes are. One of the things that hurt me the most when I started playing was running low/out of ammo, and proceeding to run around getting shot at for 5 minutes looking for an ammo box. Knowing where at least one of them is on every map is a huge benefit. Knowing where ALL of them are is honestly top-tier.
Oh, and aiming for the weapon challenges is a great way to get better quickly. You'll learn which ones you love and which ones you hate!(mostly which ones you hate. Which will be most of them.)
