It's dragging...

All of us that have been playing since release can feel it.

It has become tedium.

I have personally put a lot of time into this game... I really enjoyed the gameplay and the concept initally but as time moves on I find myself playing less and less. So what needs to be done to keep us (the average playerbase) interested?

Here are my ideas... They are simple and basic and bare bones to say the least... Only 2 things... But I hope others will contribute...

These alone would make a dramatic difference to the game (and help keep people interested)

Schematics: Where are they?
It would make salvaging all those rares and uniques have some purpose. I can open maybe 2 chests now before I have to salvage items because my inventory is full because I have so much crap now and I hold on to uniques that are lower level with the thought that "one day I might be able to make something useful out of this"
If we had schematics to grind for to get some awesome weapon then maybe it would be worthwhile... And give me some excuse to salvage those extra uniques or lower level items I don't need. We need some purpose to this garbage RNG loot system that you have handed to us! It's an easy solution to give it some meaning...

It would make a big difference in the game

New maps: We need them...

The additions to the existing maps were great and all but honestly that just created more problems than anything else.
It only takes so long before running the same three maps with a few variations becomes dull.
Everyone knows where everything spawns..
If for some reason things seem off its because an animal is nearby... It's gotten to the point of monotony.

We need some new stuff to play that we haven't memorized yet... And even better.. Some sort of randomness to the locations of the spawns... Some sort of change to keep the players on their toes. The bottom line is we need something new to do... New game modes. New maps. Something... It's been months and so far all we have seen is fixing game breaking bugs from mediocre additions to the game.

I love the game and still enjoy playing it very much.. It's fun for me... But I'm not sure for how much longer

... with nothing new to offer for this game and so many new game offerings out there in the market... What should I do? Should I just chalk it up and move on? That's what it's starting to feel like. I hate to even make a post like this because it sounds like some sort of bullshit ultimatum that no one cares about but I guess I am hoping for some sort of communication from a dev or someone related to the game... or maybe for others to add their input to a point where someone will respond and give us some idea as to what to expect from the game other than broad generic allusion about what is "down tbe pipes"

We need new content and we need it pretty often...

It's time to step it up or fade away....

Any feedback is welcome... What do you think the game needs?

For starters don't make statements about what 'all' people believe.

Don't want to play any more?

Don't, take a break, few games hold attention in perpetuity.

Don't hope for forum dev communication, that's not how it works.

Devs communicate best in the form of DLC and I'm sure there will be some.

I've probably made a dozen topics on the issue. But to summarize, and in order of importance:

1. Loot system must be overhauled, imo ideally copy-catting me3mp. VARIETY IS ESSENTIAL. There cannot be one best of each type of weapon. RNG is very painful after you have all but a few items you need, so odds of them dropping must increase either based upon gold spent or re-rolling duplicate items. Imo the loot system is the single-most fun-reducing thing in the game right now.

2. Balance must be done before adding new content. In any game, people will use overpowered content (items, abilities, classes, bugs, cheese tactics), and avoid weak content. This limits replayability. Make most items VIABLE. Make most abilities viable. Make most classes viable. Don't give us the ability to cheese through the game. Balance in this order: items, abilities, classes, and then finally the difficulty levels. Let's be honest here, most of the items, abilities, and classes ARE JUST NOT USED BECAUSE THEY SUCK OR ARE OVERSHADOWED BY OP BS.

3. New content must not obsolete old content. I.e. if new maps are being made, fewer people will play other maps, or may choose not to play the new maps, but if there is a 10% gold/xp benefit for having the map be RANDOMLY selected, people will get to experience all of the maps and the tedium will be reduced. Or find/craft godly lvl 30 masterwork weapon=delete lvl 23 weapon=stupid so don't effing do it. Or put valuable/unique items into vases and chests so people actually do them on perilous.

4. SP and MP should share much of the same resources and developing new content should be done with this in mind in order to create as much content as possible. New items, abilities, classes, black emporium features (i.e. armor tinting), can all be shared between SP and MP. And even class-specific story-driven dungeons (i.e. katari finally finds home with the grey wardens and they quest through the deep roads for a cure for The Calling) can be done in single-player as the player controlling all four characters or in multiplayer with each of the four characters controlled by different players.

5. Remove or greatly reduce player collision. Melee characters don't need to be punished anymore please FFS look at how many people play melee in perilous BIOWARE YOU FOOLS. Fix up the darn netcode. Sad. Sad. Fire whoever is responsible.

I could go on and on but imo if they do the above they might salvage the game. Or else pour all resources into Robbiesan's brilliant Druffalogeddon game concept. Who knows, it could be the next defense of the ancients/league of legends.

This particular problem just makes my mind boggle.

They could do it so easily - the schematic system is already implemented in the MP.

You can unlock every class and every tier of armor by the time you hit around 150 prestige, which is barely scratching the surface of the in-game achievement list. What are all these materials for?

And I know what you mean about hanging onto uniques, I stopped salvaging them a while ago... it would be really nice to have something to do with my 4 spare LBotG other than have them take up space, or turn them into materials which are also worthless.

Is balance really a concern for not implementing weapon schematics? The only way to make "top tier" weapons is if you've got piles of top tier materials, which take hours and hours to grind. They could even add Mastercraft materials to the loot tables.

I cycle between dragon age, warframe and destiny, I give two of them a break for a while and play one to death. It keeps me interested and stops me burning out. Destiny in particular gets frustrating for me, wheras dragon ages laid back grind is quite enjoyable. ME3MP needed no other game, I could play that forever - the sheer multitude of characters and variety of abilities and weapons meant I could change it up sufficiently to always keep it fresh. DAMP needs time to get there, give it time.

Im always on for the weekend event whatever game im playing.

DLC would be a start, and is coming, but they need to solve the connectivity problems.

A friend and I were having a few games yesterday for the weekend event, and almost every game we had a dropout. Thing of it is we can play the Borderlands games for hours without any connectivity problems.

More store chests options would help does anyone actually buy anything other than the large chest? Even loot chests that delivered schematics and crafting mats.

More treasure rooms. Especially treasure rooms that require two classes simultaneously to open. Placed right in the middle of monster packs.

Nothing will save it.  It's doomed because it is so totally unstable, when half your time is spent being disconnected or booted or screwed over people will not stay or more importantly will not pay real money for anything,  Just wait for ME4mp.

Unfortunately, there are some good titles coming out for consoles and I just can't see damp holding people's interest for much longer, I constantly see the same group of people playing in pugs and frankly the mp has turned into mundane speedruns rather than an actual gaming experience. People no longer talk on their mics like the first few weeks when the mp was at its peak of interest, where people were figuring things with different classes. Frankly, I can't blame them since their isn't enough variety to keep it alive. I can only think of so many strategies against three factions with the same spawn placement located in 5 zones across three maps. It doesn't help that new players feel disadvantaged when most of the game comes down to how lucky you are in rng blessing them with top level gear.

I don't know about you guys, but if you think this game's mp has a lot of depth and class variety than I challenge you to go into a pug match and see what you find on perilous difficulty. Nothing but arcane warriors, elementalists, and keepers. Sadly, I see more class variety in routine and threatening than I do at the highest level of difficulty. I'm not going to jump the gun and say this mp is going to die within the next month, but think about why any sane gamer would to deal with the rubber banding, intermittent crashes, etc that are associated with this game? The potential for a thriving mp is there, I see it but it's ruined by shoddy connectivity issues and lack of class, map variety, and an abysmal looting system.

No, balance is definitely not the concern, I think it is more like implementing the schematics is doing to interfere with bioware's platinum sale. As of now bioware is still trying to figure out how to implement the schematics without pis**** off its ea overlord for reducing the platinum sale.

P.S. No one can save this game but bioware. If bioware cares enough to, that is...

If anything, having schematics might boost platinum sales since the contents of the boxes (salvage) would no longer be 99% worthless.

Honestly, I don't think it can be saved.

No matter how much new content they deliver in the next 3 months, it's gonna be 5 months too late. In this age, a game has a very small window to build up a player base. Bioware simply missed it by releasing a MP with so many flaws and bad decisions all over the place. New games are coming out every week, DAMP lobbies are harder and harder to fill in... It really doesn't matter if the game becomes the pinnacle of creation over the next year, people will have moved on by then.

It's a shame because DAMP is pretty fun to play, but the lack of content, the bugs and the bad decisions all over the place will just put this game to rest before its time.

Also, and this is a personal rant of mine, when you do pull off a successful game like ME3MP, please build on it, don't reinvent the wheel as it clearly didn't work with DAMP. I feel like someone let a 5 years old paint with his fingers over the Mona Lisa...

I think that there is lots they could do, via DLC.

Adding accessories that add different effects or change your powers further can reaally spice stuff up. I mean that as well as releasing new characters with different powers, which is needed asap. New effects like a movement speed buff, attack speed buff, melee attack range buff etc rings and amulets would be nice. Stun, confuse and fear rings etc.

You could have an amulet that makes enemies affected by terror attack each other instead, another that makes fire spread to nearby enemies when proc'd. An item which makes lightning damage root enemies to the spot. This sort of thing.

Another thing that would be nice could be a return to the MEMP dynamics of elemental auto attacks being able to proc and detonate powers, and different elements being greatly effective against different enemy defenses, rather than each individual enemy having such a diverse list of weaknesses.

An apostate enemy faction, a darkspawn enemy faction (with archdemon boss), a cave based tileset, a deep roads tileset, a mountain forest tileset etc.

New objectives would be great, for example, wave 4 could be one big room and you have to keep waves of enemies away while an NPC unlocks a safe, or aims a ballista, another which branches into two paths and requires the players to split up fight their way through, and simultaneously stand within a magic circle to unlock the next stage, another could be a long straight run for the exit door, and two players have to control siege catapults or ballistas from a raised vantage point and cover the other two while they sprint for the exit followed by a swarm of enemies(perhaps have barricades that need to be blown up to clear a path)..

I could go on and on.

Tl;dr moar stuff plz.

Adding accessories

Half the current accessories are broken and don't work at all. The last thing I want to see if new stuff while old stuff is useless to begin with.

I don't know what could save this game, honestly. I only play because I want Punched by the Maker. Once I get that, I'll probably run through with the archer a couple times and put the disc away for a few months, if not forever depending on what DLC is down the road.

Its far too late to be saved imo.

I'll be honest, I haven't played in a month or so and the lack of content continues to keep me away. I'm shocked that no DLC has been announced yet, especially after the who Penguin debacle and the continued claims and reassurances by a certain Bioware employee. Calling DAMP a mess is putting it lightly.

It was just a PR stunt mate, but it seemed to have fooled quite a lot of people. Maybe I should praise the ea/bioware PR team to have done a good job for once (you know bioware was never good with PR previously).

Bug fixes is a start. People shouldn't be spending 30+ minutes trying to find a stable game. Infinite load screens, random crash to desktops out of nowhere, and various bugs like falling through the terrain on rare occasions. Even without all of that, you might get an awful host that has a poor connection.

While I agree with a lot of what you are saying, you really should be speaking for yourself and not for everyone.  It would be nice if people owned what they wanted instead of making "we" or "everyone" comments.
