Qunari look downright goofy, dwarves look like hand puppets and all I can think of when I see a male elf is Fenris and Solas both of which are as exciting as watching paint dry, i'll stick with human thanks

In Inquisition? Because they usually look the best with the armor models. Dwarf armors model are ok too in Inquisition.

Maybe becouse this "kind king" If you are a City Elf, lets and keeps your pepole live in the slums like animals? Oh wait, keeps fools at his nobillty, oh and again, I am sure it is not the first time the son of the arl of Denerim did that and I am sure it is not the first time he knew about it. And if you are Dailsh? Well he let Villages hunt you, and makes you run away wether your clan is friendly with humans OR NOT. Not much of a "Kind King" now is he?
I think this is one of the greatest things about the origins in the first game. They really ground the player in their perspective of the world. I played human noble first and didn't really understand the plight of the elves until I actually encountered it later. Same with my character I guess!
As for why I play humans in most games it comes down to how I like to engage with a setting. I like playing the political/cultural side of the world from a perspective of someone involved and prefer looking at the mystical side as an outsider. That said the treatment of mages in DA in particular interests me the most, so I generally like exploring their worldview, the other races just feel better as companions to me.

If it was trendy to hate on elves as its currently trendy to hate on anything related to humans people would do it.
Maybe, but unless those human had some way out there histories and back stories i wouldn't, for me its not the down trodden its the fragrant world settings..
The qunari are ugly, the dwarves make me laugh, the elves are proportioned oddly(and I don't like them), and because I f*cking want to, that's why.
That's funny because i feel the same way about everything but humans.. because F*cking want too, as well.
Humans are generally the scum that rises to the top..

With my class decision (die hard Rogue) I often pick a Halfling or Elf or whatever seems the most rogueish.
With DA games there's an interesting difference though, I always pick human first. It might be the story or something but it just feels right to me. I guess it's something like that the more dialogue and story there is the more real life me is included in my character, effectively making it also human.
It's an interesting view that whenever you can pick something fantastical in games you should, because I feel that I have a fantastical story ahead of me and I would like to see how *I* would for in there, again making my character look and act as I would in real life.

I am human and I'm very receptive toward Cerberus Ideals (pre-Mass Effect 3).
Plus humans kicked elf asses.

Yep. All the Human background stories were Human nobles of some form. Amell was formerly nobility and Hawke ends up becoming one for the sake of his or her mother. So is Trevelyan. So is Cousland.
See, I have no problem with humans if they did humans in a unique or interesting way. For example, in Elder Scrolls, I actually enjoy playing one particular human group and that is the Redguards. Their lore is interesting, they have no common ancestry with other humans, very lone wolf type of people, have mix of & are based on not so popular cultures in fiction such as Middle Eastern, Moors, Berber & Africa as well as their design philosophy. Most humans in fantasy just look the same with the same kind of hairstyle, the same range of skin color and what have you.
So there that :- "Oh noes, OP hates playing humans !" covered. I do not.
Whereas the human playable characters we have had so far are just the same old same old. Nobility or noble related. Which is sad in a way because we have human companions who are very diverse - there have been noble related, foreigners, introverted hermit witch of sorts.
I would really enjoy playing a human in Thedas if they are from these unique tribes that we don't know much about. Unfortunately, we don't get that and in believe Human Barbarian origin almost made it in DAO but they were cut. Alas.
Please Bioware, give us a tribesmen origin or some other human origin as opposed to be noblity one or the nobility related one for the future games...

Because I want to. I usually choose a companion as my canon romance and then I give that race to my PC. In DA, it always happens to be human (my canon romances are Morrigan, Isabela, Cassandra.) If we would have interesting not human romance options, then maybe I could take another race. Not that I'm racist, but I like romances between people from the same race.
Obviously, that doesn't mean I haven't experienced other races in other playthroughs.

I've played as all 4, but why not play as human? They also have an interesting role in the universe like the others.

Are you surprised by this? You seem disappointed in the general public, but honestly I'd be surprised if humans didn't dominate the played race stat.

Defintly with human in mind? Solas romance. Temple of Mythal... All I gotta say.
Yes, the Inquisitor was planned to be human only so the game was definitely made with a human Inquisitor in mind. Extra races and the Solas romance (as well as Cullen's) was only added because of the extra year of development they had. So they had to adapt some dialogue to each race, but that's about it, nothing else is different. Elf Inquisitors just got lucky that this game has a bunch of elven stuff.

The story fits a human noble's background better than some of others, IMO.
Also I think any of the LI content is a little odd with a dwarf or Qunari protagonist. Or least that is my opinion if the LIs are humans or elves. I think a Qunari with the Iron Bull is fine.

David Gaider also said that the game story was quite different from what they had originally planned so I'm not sure that's really about luck. There was a lot more elf-specific stuff than in Origins, and it integrated fairly smoothly. For me, the Inquisitor is Lavellan, and together with a Solas romance gives the most interesting story.

In most fantasy games, I choose not to play human, if possible, because humans are usually (imo) kind of bland (visually and narratively). My first character in DAO was an elf. However, I think that the humans in the DA series are narratively interesting. The other races are interesting, too, but it's unusual for me that I find myself playing more human characters in the DA series because the humans are actually interesting to me for a change.

I would have played as a human, if only they had a good enough passive racial ability. I knew about unlimited ability points, so having an extra one at the beginning just seemed so much less usefull than the resistance boost the other races get.
