I like the idea of a mechanic whereby you can change a character's mind about something. Would being able to change a characters mind make that character seem weak?

What do you have against Cassandra? Also, Varric giving her the book right after almost spoiling it is not trolling. That's teasing.
she tried to kill me
she forms an organization that power trips itself constantly
she is biased against me, because I am a mage
she treats mages like dirt
her ideals are stupid

How the hell did you managed to make her do that?

I'm curious about that too. I was assuming that I wouldn't be a big fan of Cassandra when I went in to Inquisition, but she seems to be open and level-headed for the most part.

I thought the game did a pretty good job of showing Cassandra changing her mind about things over the course of the game & it only made me admire her more & think she was a stronger person.
She slowly comes around on Varric. And if you disagree with her about the Chantry, or push her to reconsider her actions (like interfering when she's mad at Varric), she responds really positively. There's a basic core of what she believes--she's always faithful and a little conservative--but she's also sincerely open-minded and willing to listen.
Cassandra was one of my favorite characters in the game. Really, really liked her.
Romancing Cullen as a mage has a similar vibe. It seems to give him an extra push to reconsider his beliefs & change.

Cassy is never bias to mages nor hate them and the power trip is based on the leaders.
Try again.

I don't think it's about mindlessly agreeing with everyone. You're just playing "the game". Fake your way to the top and gain everyone's blind respect for you. Only you don't need some sh*tty Orlesian masks to do it. I agree with Vivienne and Sera to their faces all the time but do the opposite behind their backs.
Apparently you can ****** her off.
Omg, I could never do this to Cassandra!! This is horrible!

she tried to kill me
No she doesn't.
she forms an organization that power trips itself constantly
Which you, the player, is leader of. So it's your fault.
she is biased against me, because I am a mage
No, she isn't.
she treats mages like dirt
No, she doesn't.
her ideals are stupid
It would help if you raised an actual concern instead of just making things up.

The approval system didn't seem to do much. Cassandra 'greatly disapproved' of pretty much every big decision I picked, but it didn't stop her from praising the Inquisitor at every turn. The worst I recall is her offhandingly mentioned she 'doesn't always agree' with the Inquisitor, but it was almost played off as a attribute instead of a detriment. I have no idea if that line is even based on previous choices or not.
It was rather glaring after I recruited the mages and she's complaining about them and then corrects herself and says "Oh, it sounds like I'm blaming you, aren't I?"
Uhh....aren't you? Because, you know, the Inquisitor made the decision that led to this? Which you 'greatly disapproved' of?
So.. I guess you didn't see her get drunk?
