:), thanks but I have one already.
I remember it seemed to take ages for Superb Spirit runes to drop but I'm sure you'll get more than enough eventually to test your other staffs (I ended up salvaging a few to save space, I'd have given them away if it was possible)

☺ thanks.

we'll see, but I only play weekend events.

btw, I'd spec my Mindchill
solely for attack. would you recommend that?

it'll give me 34% (if I remember correctly)

So I realized something depressing. I actually had received a staff of the void a long time ago, but I scrapped it because I wasn't thinking. :(

Never found another. I still have fury of the veil, and it's great (in fact I'd probably even still prefer it)... but major sad face over my lost staff.

...

I have a 10% heal on kill ring already, so I speced mine for damage though I went for high willpower (slightly less damage altogether) instead of the percentage attack - the reasoning is that I like the additional magic defense.  The material to get highest willpower I think is rather rare though.

If you don't have a heal on kill then I'd go for the heal spec.

not seeing it (too much difference in top staves) - except for dynamo, which is still broken:

testing subject: red templar foot soldier.

results:

(no criticals just the base damage of the staves auto attacks, not including the spirit rune)

staff of the void: 85-90 lightning

fury of the veil: 84-92 lightning

pyre of the forgotten: typical low 80s- sometimes 90 fire (has a chance to apply burning which does another 80-90 damage  /sec for about 2 seconds as likely as the other staves generate their special ability - of course this only works on auto attacks?)

dynamo: 77-85 lightning permenantly after being hit, before: 84-92 lightning

edit: all staves were speced and upgraded to maximize their attack %

I have most of the staves but stick with Staff of the Void.   I like to be up in the mix of the action. =)

I have Pyre.. think mine is 63 or 69 base base damage(with Rune ~153 or something). I use it  on all my mages since it has the %4 heal on kill. I only have tier 2 blade

I've been using Staff of the Void on my AW, but Fury of the Veil on all my other mages. Seems to be the best bet.

I love running pyre of the forgotten on my necro. Kill some mook with pew pew or energy barrage and watch five other dudes get set on fire. MOAR DAMAGE.

I really like fury of the veil for AW. Veilstrike procs enough to be a big help against all the melee guys blocking SB. Just keep whacking away and watch them get put on their ass.

Best one I have so far is Tempest, Unique.

112 DPS (without rune)

55 Cold Dam

+5% Crit Chance

+6% Heal on Kill (14% with Notched Grip and Staff Blade)

+9 Willpower

And it looks really nice with that skull on it.. :)

No love for Purity's Light? I've been using it over Fury, Void, Mindchill, and Pyre. The raw damage is a bit less but made up for with the extra crit chance and crit damage. It is at least on par with the others.

68 Fire dmg

+ 25 spirit dmg

+ 22% armor penetration

+ 16% Attack

+5% barrier dmg bonus

+ 14% guard dmg bonus

+ 8 Magic

+ 2 Willpower

Do you like running Pyre of the Forgotten on your Necro and Fury of the Veil for your AW? Maybe my first Triple-post spotted, what do I win?

Has anyone ever received Staff of Corruption? I know the damage is lower, but how 'bout that Fear proc, useful or no?

No love for the sorcerers staff?  I normally use that instead of pyre or void.  I do have to admit I'm not sure to really measure it's benefits to my casters though.

+25 willpower

+20 magic on kill

has slots for a grip and blade so it is pretty beefy.

I spec it for heal on kill as well with the grip/blade.

It's damage is just moderatly less than the other two.

It seems like most people here have quite of collection of Best-in-Class Staves to choose from. I use Fury of the Veil on all my Mages because the Store hasn't given me anything better (nor anything that could possibly come close) in almost 2 million gold spent. No Staff of the Void, no Pyro of the Forgotten...

That being said, I've used the Fury of the Veil for well over a hundred Mage promotions, so I guess this staff is working just fine for me.

No one mentioned the Blizzard's Path? It doesn't have the same high DPS as other top tier staves, but it has the explosion damage of 75% last weapon damage on kill. If your AW has higher willpower, and uses Pull of Abyss and Spirit Blade a lot, you'll see it works like a wonder.

I apparently have none of the "best" staves, but I got an Archon Lightning Staff pretty early in life with a base of 99 (have since added runes and such to make it much better). That has pretty much been all my mages' go-to staff since I've literally gotten nothing better since then.

It's a pretty badass little staff, though, truth be told.

Fury of the Veil for my Elementalist and Necromancer. Pyre for AW and Keeper.

Why?

Elementalist and Necro both have death siphon so they don't need heal on kill and because of it staff is upgraded fully for damage.

Also on proc skill from Fury of the veil has great synergy with necro and ele because of heavy aoe nature.

And last thing is electric damage vs fire damage. Because most of the time my ele has at least 2 fire spells shocked effect and electric damage from staff is way more useful. On necro it could be both still IMO shocked status is more useful overall if you have to choose each one you want.

Pyre on AW and Keeper is modded with heal on kill (so I can use 2 abilities rings on keeper). Keeper can spam CL like mad so everything is shocked all the time. Static cage add even more electric damage. Burn from staff looks better here (and shocked status boosts our damage so synergy is great).

On AW basic auto attack does not matter that much still AW has CL so shocked is easily spammable. Fire damage from staff also helps with those annoying despair demons.

I've tried to use Mindchill on some class but main problem is this cold damage.

Don't know if I'm alone with this but I use deathward on keeper. Heal on hit works great with chain lightning and since keeper is not supposed to deal a lot of damage the added survivability from heal on hit means I rarely need to use potions even if something manages to damage me. Constitution bonus is nice too.

Elementalist and necro have pyre and AW has fury of the veil.

Is there a better staff than staff of the void?

Fury of the Veil with 8% Heal on Kill.

IF you don't have have an HoK ring that is.
