Technically there is a wrong answer, that being whatever you find boring. I tried hard to get into the Rift Mage but ultimately all it did was remind me how much I miss the Force Mage spec... Whereas the KE completely eclipsed the Arcane Warrior from DA:O for me.

TL;DR - use whatever you enjoy using, it's too long a game to do anything different ;)

Well I didn't find either boring, so there's that.  But I suppose the point is apt.  I wasn't ever into the AW build in DA:O, and the only warrior I could play in that game was dual-weapon warrior that was basically a rogue without rogue abilities.

I do think you are missing out on the Pull of the Abyss + Fire Mine combo.  It eclipsed my old DA:O favorite Grease + Fireball combo on the fun factor.  I suppose the highest praise I could give Inquisition is that I have yet to play a class that wasn't at least interesting.  I can't say that for the previous two games.

I am curious. Which one of these is better for a Knight Enchanter ? I wish to make a Knight Enchanter that actually plays as a mage that cast spells with the occasional use of Spirit Blade.

Setup 1

  1. Spirit Blade
  2. Fade Cloak
  3. Energy Barrage
  4. Immolate
  5. Winter's Grasp
  6. Chain Lightning
  7. Barrier
  8. Mark of the Rift / Resurgence

Setup 2

  1. Spirit Blade
  2. Fade Cloak
  3. Energy Barrage
  4. Fire Mine
  5. Frost Step
  6. Static Cage
  7. Barrier
  8. Mark of the Rift / Resurgence.

It boils down to :- Is Immolate better or Fire Mine better for Knight Enchanter ? Is Chain Lightning or Static Cage better for Knight Enchanter ? Also has anyone tried Knight Enchanter with Blizzard, does it work or do you run out of mana ?

Your Setup 1 has too many costly spells that you probably won't be using, especially if you're not close to the enemy. Your Setup 2 is pretty much what I have except I have Immolate in place of Fire Mine. I know people swear by Fire Mine but while its damage is impressive, I was always more drawn to Immolate for its ease of use, and especially now that it works as a detonator. Not getting Fire Mine also makes it so you can get to an upgraded Static Cage faster.

My usual go-to cycle for a more ranged offensive KE is:

Static Cage -> a couple basic attacks -> Energy Barrage -> a few more basic attacks. -> Immolate -> Fade Step in and finish off any stragglers with Spirit Blade

Blizzard is unfortunately sub-par as far as spells go, so I wouldn't recommend it and yeah, you do run out of mana pretty quickly.

All the swagger and feeling of power that comes with being a Mage

Combined with all the feelings of brute strength and skill that comes with being a warrior.

Favorite class by far.

Battlemages have always been a favourite of mine :D

That's why I also love Vanguards in Mass Effect.
