So I'm playing through Inquisition for the first time ever, and at some point or other, I lost Cole. I guess I wasn't paying attention to how much crap I was doing that he didn't approve of, but suddenly, on returning to Skyhold, he yells at me and leaves permanently. I'm like 99% sure there's no way to get him back through normal gameplay means, short of going back 10 or so hours in my playthrough and doing things different, so I was just wondering...

Is there some shady, cheaty way to just sort of.... put him back in my party?

I miss Cole :(

OMG That sounds so awful and sad LOL Poor Cole  :crying:

Well if you have a save before Cole leaves, you could try downloading the mod that lets you alter approval (I'm pretty sure it's out there).

Not that I know of.  There are a few cheat mods available for DA: I, but none do what you're asking.  Sorry :/

I don't get why people get upset over this.

Maybe it's because they want to please, but I personally never compromise my Inquisitor's opinions or decisions for the sake of anyone else. I do what I think is right.

That's great, but doesn't really answer the OP's question.

To be honest i doubt there is cheat on that in dai that sadly don't follow dao and da 2 with same console command and cheats.

There should be save editors or something if you have save before he leaves you always can edit his approval.

Yeah, I'm checking if there's some way to alter the companion's approval via Cheat Engine.  There should be some way.

I know what you mean, OP. I purposely didn't recruit him in my second game, and it didn't feel right at all. Good luck getting him back.

You must of really upset him. It's not particularly hard to keep everyone in Skyhold happy. I'm currently making a jerk inquisitor and I'm absolutely giddy at being an ass and getting on everyone's nerves.

Punching Solas has been the highlight so far.

I'm afraid I don't know how to get him back in the party (if that's possible). But for future reference, saving a lot of the Hinterlands sidequests until you recruit him will boost his approval. As will freeing people in cages in

Who is Cole? All I remember was I walking from Crestwood to Skyhold, and when I got to the bridge and there was a flash, and then nothing. I have I been using too much elfroot?

Based on the fact that Cole is one of the easiest companions to keep happy (no really, he approves whenever you do something nice, even if he's not there) I am seriously questioning the OP's game decisions now.

I lost him right after Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. I put Gaspard on the throne.

Aaaaaaah, that would probably do it. Cole does not like Gaspard.

Even so, if putting Gaspard on the throne drove him away, he must have been at dangerously low levels of approval to begin with.

As for the TC's question, aside from reloading an earlier save and using a save editor to tinker with his approval levels, no, there's no way to get him back and keep him, at least for this playthrough.

Eh, you can get his disaproval easier than you'd imagine. Ally with the templars, keep the wardens, let Celene die, jail a bunch of people...if you don't talk with him or take him around with you, I could see it happening.

He also disapproves if you spare Gaspard for some reason.

But you also get his approval really easily just by doing sidequests (i.e. helping Hinterlands refugees even if he's not around iirc) so OP either didn't do enough side quests or was really an all around mean person one time too often (I've done the first 3 and never had Cole problems o.ov)

I did literally all of these things :(

Aside from jailing people. I always took in anyone I could to the inquisition, one way or another.

You can cheat by using time travel technology we mages refer to as ‘saves’…
