Build

http://da-skills.net...1C121,111,111,0

This was just something I was doing for fun, to experiment, and I'm actually fairly surprised with how handy it is. Mostly tested on threatening, and likely where this sort of build would stay, but I did have someone switch us up to Peri and I actually felt like I was contributing, went down twice and wiped before zone five, but first down was when PotA slingshoted a shield venatori into my face, and the second was wen our katari and I forget what our fourth was, went into a room and got wasted, and our AW went forward to rambo, hit of PotA and got pincushioned before he could take advantage, leaving me to get pincushioned and slammed from behind.

Overall though I was surprised by the kill streaks I've been getting and how much control you have over your enemies with this build. You main combo is chain lightning followed by Veilstrike, if used quickly when enemies are grouped you can put them all to sleep. It's tempting to do it the other way because of the perk that allows you to do more damage to weakened enemies, but at the same time, your chainlighting will be ready before the weakened status wheres off.

On of the things I was most surprised at was Lightning Bolt, looking at it, it seems very underwhelming, and when you first use it before upgrading, it really is compared to the cost, but as I used it more and combined it with some of the passives, it quickly grew in my perspective. It has two great uses, first is opening move, for example, spot an enemy that is considered a priority and cast it on them as a first strike, despair demons, mage's, assasins, the archer in the middle of a group of archers. If you pick your spot and get an enemy when it has a lot of other enemies nearby you can strip most of its health if not one shot it, as well as knock over all surrounding enemies. The other utility is stopping a single enemy dead in its tracks for a couple seconds, very few enemies are immune to being paralysed, so either its an enemy rushing you, or its something like a RT Knight thats engaging another party member, its pretty amusing watching a knight sit there and twitch as a pair of dwarfs wail on it.

Why no barrier?

To make people gasp in disbeleif.... lol, this and the point is a dps keeper.

Why no static cage?

Cause its at the bottom of the other tree and you have to give up certain passives to get to it, though you can gain other goods ones along the way. One build that could use it is http://da-skills.net...0C1D0,010,111,0though you also give up fade/frost step, which is a great get out of dodge move as well as being able to use aggressively when other stuff is on cooldown or you're out of mana.

This overall is a mana intensive build, but as you get some of the passives you'll find you're seldom out of mana for long, even the expensive lightning bolt can be used quite often. A similar build can also be done on the AW, and he'd be a bit tougher using it as he has easy access to both guardian spirit and the ability that makes him generate barrier for damage dealt.

Fury of the veil is almost a must with this type of build, not so much for proccing veilstrike, but just for high lightning damage, you basic attacks can put enemies to sleep as in the same instant you'll both shock and weaken them.

Props for admitting you've mostly done threatening with it and having the balls to recommend lightning bolt. Prepare to be verbally abused on the forum :P. Threatening is great and sometimes i still like to play it because it allows you to play around with different abilities and classes and have fun without worrying about being a burden to the team, whereas in perilous 90% of the time you are strongly compelled to use a limited selection of classes and abilities due to poor balance.

Fyi static cage ring and the shock damage are broken atm.

I'm playing around with builds and abilities, as well I don't have a single HOK ring of any level. And I do split my time between some Destiny and some single player, still haven't beaten single player, so its why I'm not digging into Perilous, Honestly, I think threatening is where its at, its not completely a cake walk like routine, and you don't get yelled at for playing certain classes/abilities, not a single person blinked an eye at me never popping barrier with a keeper.

I never used to use barrier on my characters until recently. I've just found that having it on standby for an emergency especially pugging is game saving. The ability to save yourself or your party members from a full wipe and restart more often than not, is much to important to give up.. Imo and it's only my opinion. With my keeper and elementalist, i always come first or second with barrier. 3 dps skills are enough, but it's good to try different things. I messed up my first keeper big time because I didn't know better lol

nice build but a no barrier Keeper is a no no in a pug that expects it.. granted Keeper is my prime class and I play it similar barrier/CC and some lightning.. I recently promoted and wanted to try Lightning cage.. I'm currently using the CC stun smash and I like it a lot as an 'oh snap' ability

If you're interested in dps keeper, may I suggest
Fs
Fc
Cl or sc
Barrier and all the passives
Barrier, Use sc on group, fs into circle and fc in circle with mob. Fs out, rebarrier and repeat or auto attack. It's just like arcane warrior, w/o spirit blade and no need to build barrier. The dps from fc should clear almost everything. Also if you have Any big guys, fc is awesome to bring them down, it negates fears and knockdowns and pUts out the fire. You are basically a walking, invincible, dispelling bomb.

I think the static cage ring works just fine on my keeper. I'm confident that I should be able to cast it and keep it active for an hour or two.
