I think , DA:I is a good game on its own, but maybe my expectatios were too high, I find that the sidequests have nothing to do with the main story, they exist only to gain power points to unlock the main missions, and it takes almost 80% of the time just for the fetch quests, I started the last main mission with about 180 power points, totally useless,

I played ME series and the other DA games countless times, but now I can't find motivation enough to start the second playthrough of Inquisition, it's like, something is missing. DA:I is a great game, but  there are too many useless side quests, and doing just the main campaign it's too short

good game. good value for my dollar particularly nowadays when games are trying to get away with giving me half the content for the same price tag this was a breath of fresh air.

also a good rpg, good story, some zones are really enjoyable and i love exploring the world bioware created, poking around, picking up codex entries and learning the lore, discovering secrets, just immersing myself in the experience.

perfect? of course not. i only like a few of the companions, (dorian cole solas, err thats it, my least favorite companion cast of ANY bioware game) the main quest is short, im forced to wear pjs in skyhold so i dont get to rock my sweet armor as much as i want to, etc.

but its a great game. next one will be similarly awesome. i can tell ffrom reading here a lot of people dont like exploring for the sake of exploring though, and that makes me sad, because i love a good main quest but i dont ever want to go back to the da:o model of 'go to these 4 places do the quest then save the world' plus exploration allows us to see parts of thedas that we would never see otherwise.

I wasn't particularly satisfied and haven't really felt the urge to replay it since finishing it before christmas. That's not to say it enraged me in the way ME3 and i liked the lack of auto-dialogue and control over protagonist characterisation. All in all an ok effort but comes last in my rating of the 3 dragon age games to date.

Didn't like the numerous empty areas filled with fetch and the paucity of good side story content.

Main story felt short, especially in comparison with the amount of grind around it. Ending wasn't ME3 horrid bad but wasn't epic like DAO or ME2 either.

Didn't really feel a connection with most of Companions personally, Cullen and Leliana as advisors were much bigger hits with me.

The only thing that I disliked about the game is how easy it is to forget that "there is a giant hole in the veil.. and it will kill us all!".. "Hey Cole, want to go to val royeaux and sit at a cafe for two minutes before we head back to skyhold?"

It takes what... three, four (or more) days to go from skyhold to the capital of either country?

I don't actually want restriction or huge consequences for just randomly traveling around the world, but it would have been nice if the game had an overall sense of time.

Satisfied? Yes

I'm on my second play through since I got it at Christmas, so that's at least 3 months play, which is pretty good value for money.

Is it perfect? No

fetch quests / dodgy inventory system / not enough focus on the story / button mashing combat.

It's a really good game, just not epic.

No, because  it took away all the good things from DA2 AKA like the personality system. It is the least engaging of all three DA games, and I actually don't even feel that it is a DA game. It's too much like Skyrim, and I didn't want to play Skyrim, I wanted to play Dragon-Age :(

Haha, I thought they were going to the Skyhold tavern or something but then they appear in Val Royeaux like it's just next door. And I think it takes way more than just a few days. In Origins, according to Dagna, it's a one week trip from Orzammar to the Circle Tower and they are right next to each other on the Ferelden map, so imagine how long it must take to go from Skyhold to Val Royeaux. But well, it's a video game, I guess logic doesn't apply here and people will think we're nitpicking. So, shhh...

I think Dagna was talking about going on foot rather than by horse or some other mount. Bioware tried to retcon the non-existance of mounts in ferelden.. but we all know the truth.. the mounts obviously came through the breach. Which makes them helpfull spirits (demons!) who just want to help us get where we need to go.

I hated the personality system in DA2. So no loss there...

Oh yeah, I forgot horses didn't exist in DAO! Still. I think travelling on a horse through the mountains is not that quick and easy. Specially with slow horses that stumble on tiny rocks and a single elfroot. -_- lol

I recommend you try it. It's actually real fun.

A friend from overseas and I are fans of the franchise since day one, been discussing our playthroughs for years - and we get to play together for the first time. It's also not "arenas" like Mass Effect, but actual levels. If you don't join a PuG and coordinate your skills, it feels like playing Dragon Age, except your companion makes smarter decisions and sounds like your buddy. It loses a lot of its evil when you look at it like that.

If BioWare can't make a good enough game for you or anyone else with decent standarts, because they added a multiplayer to their game and had it made by a seperate team, then that would make for a very bad testimony of their skills as a modern developer.

edit: To clarify, I am not saying the game is flawless. Or even the multiplayer. But just as ME3 before, the problems it has, fundamentally are not caused by budget or resources. It's sloppiness and possibly faulty/unpredictable scheduling, but most of all, it's consicous decisions people just disagree with.

I havent tried MP, but I believe you. If its fun, could dragon age be a good universe for an MMO ?

I am very satisfied with DAI. It has been an enjoyable experience to me, although the game needs to balance all its elements better. Maybe that will happen in a next installment.

I'm very satisfied. I'm also not a fan of the "open" world and wish there was at least double the story missions and companion quests, but otherwise I enjoy the game a lot and have pretty much played nothing else since it came out. It also helps that this is the first DA game where I actually find the combat enjoyable.

I am not satisfied. I think it is actually Bioware's weakest game to date. I keep hoping that each patch will improve it to a state where it is actually a good game, but to be honest I think I am probably fooling myself.

My main issue with the game ? Lelianna is now Divine at the end of my cession. My poor Hero of Ferelden...

Ok, the game is not perfect, but after DA 2 and ME 3, its the game of  the redemption for Bioware. It's my opinion.

Only if your skip all the boring the fetch quests and don't reveal the maps. If your are a completionist, who wants to get the most out of his chars, it's less than 5/10.

The more times i play it the more fetch quests i want to do. Some of them are awesome at lower levels, like resurrecting that guys grandfather only to be attacked by a powerful undead warrior and then two bears and a pack of mabari show up mid fight. Hunting for giant bear claws. Investigating how mysterious deaths or missing persons died or went missing. The haunted mansion in the emerald graves. The vaarious elven temples unlocked by exploring ruins or searching bodies. The written account of red crossing is rich with lore. Finding out the camps leader is the bastard son of a noble and deciding what to do with the info. The dalish missions are also good because you can play them differently each time.

So no I disagree and whats wrong with being a completionist? I'm not but if that's what someone else enjoys you can't argue they shouldn't be satisfied with their purchase.

To be honest I still haven't got very far with it.

Admittedly my PC isn't top spec, but it does exceed the recommended requirements, and I'm still getting a lot of performance problems, especially during the big combats.  I know there's a patch coming, and I'll probably resume playing when it happens.

Have to say I'm also finding the controls and UI to be cumbersome and frustrating - like playing Skyrim before it got modded.

So far the story seems OK (took a while to get going though - hinterlands was too big and full of nothing much, swamplands was better), some of the characters are engaging (oddly, mostly the ones from DA2) some are infuriating (I nominate Sera and her obnoxious personality and annoying voice to be the first one thrown under the bus)

Some of the sidequests are OK, some are rubbish, but then that's usually the case.

However, I did loose my s**t with the guy in the hinterlands who was standing outside his farm doing nothing and asked me to go and get his cow-thing from about 100 yards away though.  "Didn't you notice the demon-spewing portals?  I AM BUSY!  Do it yourself!"

Pending the patch, I have been working my way through IWDEE

Still holding out hopes for the game

From what I have read, that Cow thing is of great help closing that rift.

As I am Techless, I cannot offer much help from that perspective, but do recommend lowering Effects Quality to Low. It removes the shiny aspect and density from fog & smoke FX; appears to be a more natural look, and increases FPS. And as one with an older GTX 670 GPU, the updated drivers and recommended settings from NVidia have been of aid, though I manually choose my own settings.

Also be sure to look at the CPU to insure it is recommended; possible troubles apparently are coming from this for some.

For the most part I'm satisfied. I wish there'd been more build up to the final battle and that some of the sidequests had been "dressed up" in a manner similar to those in DAO and DA2 but those are my only issues.

Only some of the sidequests, though. Other sidequests are better without being dressed up, like when you walk into the temple where time was frozen in the middle of a battle between demons and venatori while the temple was apparently in the middle of collapsing. I don't think I would have had quite as much of a "Wow" moment if they had done a cutscene upon entering that temple.
