Can I be Luka? I'm having lots of fun with her in MP, and she's adorably mad.
BOOM!

Leliana (with a romanced Warden). I'd love to find out what she had been doing for the last ten years and how far is her net and how it works.

Playing as Josephine would definitely offer an interesting, different experience. Something like playing The Nameless with high wisdom in Planescape Torment

Blackwall.
His life is too interesting not to continue. I want to see him confront the noble who hired him. Ideally I'd like to see a continuation of the cycle. He takes on an apprentice who he teaches enough to win the Grand Tourney.

As a male :- Kihm or Three Eyes.
As a female:- Breaker Thram or Heir.
I would love to know more about the Lore of the Tempest...
I especially love Three Eyes' armor...Too bad we cannot craft one... ![]()

I hate playing a set character. I play games with set characters only if the gameplay is fun and in DA:I it's an utter chore imo so if we'd been stuck as a set character I'd have zero interest in the game.

There are multiple Red Jennies, and the 'organization' isn't a unified group. Sera tells you both of these things.
Sadly I hadn't met Sera when I first played DAO. Dunno why..

Out of curiosity, did you find Hawke too restrictive a character to play, or was there enough scope for customisation for it not to be a bother?

Teaming up with Bodahn could be fun, if you were graverobbers and looting people's homes for treasure.

I think I'll go with Sebastian since it wouldn't be hard for me to deal with a linear storyline played from his perspective. Also, playing as an archer would be a nice change of pace, since I rarely used them in this series.

His story seems like a mashup of DAO noble and a little DAI (warrior or rogue noble).

Hawke was ok but not ideal. I enjoyed getting to create my faces in the CC, pick my gender, love interest, class, and tone but I didn't like the set background or being restricted to human. Games with an actual set protagonist (such as the newer Tomb Raider) I may enjoy on a medium level and like the gameplay but I wont play it a second time or buy DLC and may or may not buy any other installments I also buy this kind of thing used or on sale since it doesn't get me excited or draw me in.

Sutherland and his crew would be fun, Cassandra is a strong character who I think could carry a game. Someone mentioned Servis, for a minor character if you read all his codexes he is amazing (especially his cover letter one looking for new employment), would love to see him come back in future games, he would make a great companion!

Cassandra (Doing stuff around post DA 2 wise?)
Varric: (Cotre stuff?)
Aveline (Post DA 2 stuff)
Merril (what is she doing now?)
Fenris (what is he doing now?)
Isabella (She's a admiral now from a rumor but what is she doing?)
Blackwall (the imposter not the real one.)
Tatllis (So far was only in a DLC in 2)
Arthenial (I liked her from DA 2. Alot of my saves spared her so it would be nice to see her again smuggling stuff)
Methras (The Tal Vashoth traitor qunari guy. he became a merc. I think he would be cool to go from "nothing" (as he dictated) to something)
Sutherland (would be cool to play as him and watch him get that mage girl)

What about characters only referenced by name?
Probably not, but I'm going to give a cheatyface answer anyway. I'd want to play as Shartan.
