I was between usernames. I got involved in a forum flame war under the name "NeoTrio," so I wanted a clean slate: something that wouldn't be political or provocative. I'm a big history and classical period enthusiast, and was particularly fascinated by the Minoan civilization, the fall of which I considered to be one of the events that started the Ancient Greek era. So I chose "Knossos" as an interim name while I think up something better. Even back then I sorta knew it might stick.
"TNC" stands for the "Triple Neo Company." Once upon a time, I dreamed of setting up a Total Annihilation modding site under that name.
I also go by "madrocketeer" or "MadRocketeerTNC" on some sites. I was an enthusiastic Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament player at the time, and my favourite weapon in both games was the rocket launcher.

"Icy Magebane" is the name of an astonishingly powerful poison I came up with while playing The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion many years ago... created specifically to prevent the spellcasters in that game from running around and blasting my character with magic, it was so potent that I used it in all future playthroughs. Since I was playing a lot of Oblivion at the time, this became my Xbox Gamertag and I used it here because I thought I had to when I first signed up for this site (I was unfamiliar with how this worked)...

I struggled to think of a sensible name for my character back when I started playing Oblivion so I chose a stupid one instead, and it kinda stuck. And it's more interesting than Christine.

I like Latin and I liked Halo.
Long version is Gravisanimi translates to Gravemind, however a different kind of grave(as in dark and heavy) and a plural of mind(which is appropriate I suppose).
This name has stuck very, very well for something crappily translated.
