Romance no one, head-canon a political marriage with Briala. Kind of disappointed they didn't include political marriages in DAi like they did for DAO. HM-Celene, HF-Gaspard, EM-Briala.

That would've been neat. As far as political marriages go, I think we've only had Alistair, Anora, and Sebastian (with Viscountess Hawke). Wonder if we'll get another opportunity in the next game?

Thanks for those who replied.
I've fallen in love with the warrior class (funny right, considering my name here on the boards lol) and when i saw the Arlathan General in Heroes of Dragon Age, it inspired me to create a elven warrior.
However it really bothers me on who to romance.
Cassandra - fellow warrior, admires her for her excellent qualities and attributes.
Josephine - impresses him with her wit and diplomacy, the elven greeting made him feel respected. The duel with the other noble wouldn't be so bad as im a warrior.
The Iron Bull- I like his character but i much prefer a romance as a Qunari with him.
Dorian- I like his character and dialogue, and i feel would suit a Dalish character. The opposites attract cliché - warrior to mage, elf to human, dalish to tevinter.
That being said, i am sort of stuck between at least three of the options.
I have a human templar who will probably pursue Josephine - much due to the background of the noble families and the dialogue.
Hmmm so that cuts it down to Cassandra or Dorian.....

These are great reasons! In this case, I'd probably go with Dorian for exactly the parallels you mentioned... plus, you said you're going for Josie on another playthrough. But you can never go wrong with Cass, really. :P

That makes no sense. If she was eligible, that means she had to have had a royal ancestor by blood at some point.

However, if she had a single human ancestor, that would have made her a human.

Unless one of the original royal ancestors was an elf. Awkward?

Was Zevran's crow girlfriend an elf? I actually don't remember if he mentioned that in Origins.

Yup, she was and he mentions it.

Then yeah it's impossible.

That...still doesn't work unless the Antivan royal family has always been composed exclusively of elves or Antivan sucession laws state that marriage is enough to make someone and their descendants eligible for the throne.

Otherwise, in order for someone to be eligible, they need the royal blood. In this case, human blood.

Even if the fourth son/daugther of a fourth son/daugther of the king married or had an illegitimate child with an elf, that kid would be human and his/her children would be human and so on and so forth.

If Zevran's elven lover had a single drop of royal blood in her, she would have been a human. Unless Bioware wants to introduce a new rule where an elf blooded human's great great grandchildren can be elves if enough elven blood is introduced.

Well the Dynasties in Antiva are tied to the crows, and the crows have a lot of elves according to Zevran. If one of the founding members of the current dynasty was an elf that slept around his/her illegitimate descendants could technically be considered part of the succession, especially if they are higher up crows themselves. Sort of technically could happen but will never lead to anything scenario.

I found the actual source. There's no mention of blood at all, it simply says

Spoiler

So... it's possible that she would have been appointed heir, somehow..? In any case, she was killed before anything could come of it, precisely because it was so controversial. I guess.

But his/her descendants would all be human. Therefore she couldn't be one of them.

Well Zevran's girl was called Rinna, not Rinnala nvm according to the wiki she's called both, her father is also apparently Prince Estafan. Now this is just getting silly.

No need to exagerate. Maybe the writing clarifies this.

Even if it does not provide an actual explanation, it would still be only one error.

I'm assuming the editor forgot Rinna was an elf. Or... something.

Prince Estefan doesn't sound elven but that doesn't mean anything.

Still, are we talking merchant prince or crown prince? Either way, it sounds very unlikely an elf would be either.

And he had to have been an elf. Or are we talking adoptive father here?

Nah, it's the actual royal line, I think.

And she's described as his "bastard", so... gotta be biological, not adoptive.

Wtf.

Yeah, the editor must have forgotten she was an elf.

Either that or her race is what got retconned, and she was officially human. Or maybe some weird magic ritual crap happened like the dark ritual, a ritual that made it so a human-elf child somehow turned out to be elven. Which would be... Weird, to say the least. And add more questions instead of answers, like where the ritual came from or why it was done.

Uh.. imaginary rituals aside.

It sounds like just another error

Or maybe they forgot how interracial elf pairings work.

Could be a one in a thousand fluke where the elven gene is dominant.

That was mostly just me coming up with a crazy theory to explain what is likely just another stupid error, like the one that also makes the Dalish Warden 40+ years old at the beginning. Yes, WoT2 actually does inadvertently say that by making the Warden's father who was the previous Keeper die 40 or so years before the start of DAO.

So yeah, it's got problems. My post was just throwing random stupid theory and seeing if it stuck

Or maybe they forgot how interracial elf pairings work.

Very likely.

I'm okay with them retconning in that enough elven/elfbooded matches eventually would produce something elflike.

The way it actually works in canon is a bit nonsense.

This doesn't sound like that though.

I thought it was just elves being submissive even on a cellular level to humans
