Pillars of Eternity has been my go-to game as of late (and most recent purchase). So far I've managed three playthroughs and still discovering much about the game, so I can't say it was a bad buy.
+I love the character creation. Multiple subraces, origin and background, it's a roleplayer's heaven!
+Definitely feels more like an rpg that self defines as you go along (personality choice, you as the player answer questions about your history, makes the game feel more like a DM at times)
+Custom parties if you so choose
+Multiple factions and ways to solve quests. Choice feels real, not like an illusion
+Attributes and occasionally class/subclass affect dialogue
+The setting and story in general (draws a lot of real world parallels, some of which make you really think)
-Companions are lacking. They aren't terrible (Eder, Pallegina and Calisca I quite liked) but nothing really made them memorable. They just felt like side pieces who came along for the ride and provide occasional commentary, much like the bulk of BG1 companions
-No romances (yeah I know, BioWare spoiled me with that one)
-The Final Boss
-Limited resting (it's a pain, especially in dungeons)
Will probably load up The Sims 2 again in the near future. Still one of my favorite games of all time. ![]()
