EVA Metal Gear Solid

https://youtu.be/u0hMWM8Gx8Q?t=69

I knew what you were saying -- I just thought it was random and the way you worded it was a bit whack.

To answer the question -- Yes, there's a character named EVA in Snake Eater, the third game, which is also part of the HD Collection.

Like I said. Only Ground Zeroes or the upcoming Phantom Pain. Konami has a fallout with the game's creator lately, so it's uncertain whether they'll re-release the others on PC. Without Kojima it'll most likely be another pile of rushed-out crap like the Silent Hill HD Collection.

Has anyone here played Hellgate London and Hellgate world?

I got asked to join a group for that but have never even heard of those and can't find an online store that sells London, at least one that works for me as I am in Australia and not the USA....

Any thoughts on these would be appreciated.

Yeah? Well the original AoE doesn't have Tony Abbott saying 'Stop the Boats' and '**** Happens'. Checkmate, atheists.

Original HellGate has been sitting in steam greenlight for quite some time now, should be out soon.

or you could just play the game from this link and buy or download hellgate london http://hellgate.t3fu.../home/home.aspx

The devs have left out in years now, but waiting for it on steam is worth it.

That's only in the original AoE.

This has always been a great pet peeve of mine. The wololo and Priest maymay is associated with AoE 2 but wololo only appears in the game as a player taunt. AoE 2 has the Monks and the conversion sound is some kind of Gregorian Chanting.

Finished Saints Row IV, the unabated Batsh!t-Crazy Ultra-Absurdist Open-World Parodic Wonderland that appears to be a blend of The Matrix, Independence Day, Mass Effect, and plenty more where that came from. As the game is essentially the simulation of a world a la The Matrix, that framework allows for the developers to get away with virtually anything. Storyline is barely the focus, but comes with some great character missions. Sounds familiar. They even go as far as emulating something else known from the same game.

Combat mechanics are about the same, but the weaponry and platforming have changed quite a bit. Pretty much everything "Super" neo could do, you can do. Super speed running, jumping through the air, even that tornado-y thing near the end of Matrix Reloaded. The game allows for lots of customization. Weaponry upgrades/stylistic changes, Wardrobe(that may or may not include Cybernetic Dino Costumes), you name it.

Anyways, I had a blast. It was a...strange adventure?

Witcher 3.... still. I'm almost done. Maybe another week and I'll be good to go (until the expansion comes out in the fall...)

I'm thinking about playing Rayman Legends on Wii U after I'm done with Witcher 3. I've only really played RPGs this year, so I think I need some good old fashion 2D platforming to give myself a break.

That, or I'm going to pick up MLB 15: The Show and get hooked on RTTS mode again.

Finished Alien: Isolation, was very happy with the results. Comes with a great sense of tension through its combat and carries an authenticity for the 1979 concept of the future, which isn't seen very often. Moments with "The Alien" sort of reminds me of the kids avoiding the raptors in Jurassic Park - like walking on very thin ice. Unlike something from Amnesia, it boils down to more than hiding behind a box and regenerating health I mean avoiding the 1-hit kill monster that looks ugly. You still have a few gadgets to either sense where they are or repel him all together. The Alien... isn't the only threat on the ship, either.

Anyway, cool stuff.

Touched the Tomb Raider reboot. The game itself isn’t dramatically far from what I’d expected before playing, but I enjoyed it a good deal. As both a Survivalist game and heavy on Archery, it wasn’t a hard sell. :P In true hunter/gatherer tradition, you’ll be living off the land through the salvage & ammunition gained off enemies. All of this and other bits can be leveled up at the bonfire checkpoints scattered across Dragon’s Triangle. The story revolves around the mysterious island, combining some traditional Tomb Raider shtick as well as a few other bits that I’d best not spoil. To be perfectly honest, the story just isn’t *that* interesting, though it’s on par with previous tomb raiders(and I suppose Uncharted as well). I do, however think it fits as a great framework for growing a normal archaeologist into a hit-the-ground-running badass. She needs to go through hell before dishing it out, after all.

Combat’s quite satisfying. You’re armed with the classic weaponry and one of these babies, all which have some nifty upgrades. Rope Arrows, Fire Arrows, payoffs for stealth killing? I could get used to that. Actually, it almost feels too easy with the Bow & Arrow. Fully upgraded and with the upper hand, you can make mincemeat out of some of these mobs. Enemy AI puts up a fair challenge, and the enemies who prefer melee actually twist and move around you to avoid your gunfire which impressed me.

Exploration is pretty satisfying. It’s almost reminiscent of Link To The Past, as where you’ll be able to travel is determined by various tools of the trade found along the isle. Level design will feel like a combination of uncharted/tomb raider with a bit of assassins’ creed, both natural and man-made trekking will play a part. And much like Assassins’ Creed, the design feels more organic this time and a natural extension of Dragon‘s Triangle. The game also involves some intense set pieces. Entire buildings can flip sideways, upside down, break apart, or put you in reverse along the forceful rush of a downward stream. Let’s hope Crystal Dynamics never goes into the business of *real* water slides.

Some minor complaints, Subtitles sucked the moment I had them turned on - big black backgrounds around the text made it impossible to stay immersed with them. The game’s a bit too loud by its default audio levels(at least on PS3), so I’d fix that in the options menu.

If you want to feel like a survivor, this game’ll do it. If you want an Indiana jones-esque adventure without playing as the everyman puckish rogue, it’s a great choice. Or if you want to stare for 8 hours at a butt that gets kicked every step of the way, this wouldn’t be too shabby a title.

I’m going to hell for that last comment, but it was totally worth it.

Also finished a lesser-known game, Shadows of the Damned. If I had to describe it in 4 words, it would be “Heavy Metal Acid Trip”. Take the Dante’s Inferno Video Game, toss in the combat of Resident Evil, add a touch of Silent Hill and mush them in a ball. Take the ball, and whack it onto the wall through the living quarters of the nearest biker gang leader, letting it gradually slide down onto the floor. Lastly, flatten out the ball with a rolling pin and bake for 2-3 years at 666 degrees Fahrenheit.

It’s a wild and crazy ride, with far more imaginative slices of game than your average title. You’ll be getting a “big boner” to destroy giant steampunk abominations through a neon-drenched cityscape, shooting golden goat heads attached to the wall, and being congratulated for surviving the second dimension. The story may not be the most coherent, but I’d say the focus isn’t high on that anyhow. The few times lore on some of the NPCs will get covered are cleverly done through a format you wouldn’t expect in a game so heavy on run-and-gunning.

Writing’s pretty clever, as the dynamic duo leading the game make for amusing banter. Visually, it looks like the average PS3 game; What they *do* with that engine is rather impressive, though. There’s some light puzzles(of the environmental kind), particularly near one of the end levels. If you enjoy that kind of combat and want something less conventional than your typical shooting fest, you’d be choosing wisely with Shadows of the Damned.
