Cryo ammo's great if your weapon isn't your main source of damage. Just by shooting at the first enemy in a chain you slow the entire pack. Then take out the ones behind once the front is low on health.

The cryo explosion desire was more about crowd control than direct damage, but my main reasoning for using cryo ammo was to gain the extra damage from the rank 6 Freeze Combo with Incinerate.

I was thinking that would help melt bosses faster.

As for my actual topic about the CSR though, last night I took it for a run with my Flamer happy Vorcha and here it rocks! Even hip firing the thing is amazing. Looks good too.

CSR GI was one of my favorite setups. Everyone else has already said it, but the Incendiary Ammo + semi-auto/burst fire method is the best way to roll with it, regardless of the class you use it on. If you don't want to be a walking queso bowl, then you can run it with AP ammo and still melt shit.

I have 3 kits where cryo is the goto ammo type; two of which I play at very CQC and find the chilling/freezing effect quite useful.

 

Fury / Hurricane - your AF will drain shields and there's something satisfying about charging headlong into a mob, shooting to slow / freeze targets on the way in and then getting that lovely mix of biotic and cryo explosions in quick succession. Of course, detonating a cryo explosion on an enemy (with Throw) will freeze another nearby; fun for Cannibal popsicle explosions.

 

Justicar / Disciple / Acolyte - Acolyte with cryo rounds and Pull is just lulzy but the main thing is that the Disciple is a stagger gun and more useful than a staggered target is a frozen one, if the intent is to charge in very close and drop a Biotic Sphere to hit multiple targets.

[Nitrocuban]

- Incendiary or AP ammo

- practice  to get a good timing, never overheat the gun

- aim for the head

- if accidently overheated use a Thermal Clip Pack to instantly "reload"
