Saying "all you need is a decent staff" can be applied to every single class. You only need a decent weapon to start wreaking stuff.

well... more or less...

I just come from a Perilous match where an AW destroyed the whole wave 5/5 including a terrified demon commander while we were all dead...
just by clicking 1 button.
he did not even have a title. when I asked him he said that he was pretty new to the game and reached lvl 20 for the first time.

he wouldn't have managed that with ANY other character. no matter which staff be uses

LOL, definitely possible to die. However, there is a very easy pattern to help you live. It is blade, blade, blade, cloak, blade, blade, blade, step... throw in your 4th spell, (CL) for good measure. Never  blade more than 3x but you can blade less. Because the pause after 3 in the animation will hurt ya.

Lastly, at lower levels he is not auto-win. However, at this point with the group of guys I play with.. he kind of is an auto-win. Obviously, I am only referring to perilous. We can all win with any classes on Threatening....

Once your WP starts climbing.. he dishes out enough damage. I can actually maintain my barrier by just using my regular staff attack as long as I am not being hit by numerous targets.

Who the hell takes fade step on AW? Its all about cloak.

its a pve game.

Whole team won. XP and loot shared. You got carried by some "newbie". What's wrong?

Good AW or in general good player of any kind and class makes match better. It's easier and faster. Other ppl could just slack. OPness of AW (which is really only because of ONE passive ) does not affect my gameplay at all.
In SP this one stupid passive makes mage even more OP with a combination of some cooldown reduction passives + chaotic focus.

Bioware should focus more on alchemists (which skills looks like some random mess) and katari (defense sucks, damage not that great, clunky and mainly made to clear trash groups)

Mages was always OP in dragon age games. They should be OP. Person which can summon meteor shower with some hand waving can't be on the same level on "power" with some generic dude with sword. PvE games like this aren't based around perfect balance, they made around a concept of "fun to play, being viable as class". So main "balance" is made around buffing classes not that great, buffing spells and "builds" not used that much etc.

The same was with ME3 multi. Weapons, skills buffs all the time. New classes, most of them better, so more buffs to old ones to get them still "viable". And they've added badass krogan with badass hammer. I want katari to be like him.

Just saying, not everyone sleep-plays DAMP to get hundreds of promotions and insta-kills everything.

There are some people that play DA MP only occasionally (due to being busy with... you know, living), and due to lack of promotions or meaningful loot

are more or less forced to play AW in order to be effective.

I think that it's a big mistake to base the potential "nerfing" of classes on the minority who plays the game day and night, has all the top gear,

hundreds of promotions, and a belly full of scorn to everyone who isn't quite up to their "high standards" and just wanted to *gasp* have a bit of fun in the MP.

So true, watching some of them is just painful. I didn't realise it was possible to die with them on threatening but PuG's prove otherwise time and time again.

oh defintely  there are few on xb1, but i am betting there are just as many on the ps4 as well, and i normal;ly run on perilious the last challenge from this week drew them out by the hordes due it was really easy to get the weekend challenge done in 3 games i even went on My AW and  tried to save  the group because they didnt stick together and ran into a ohk group just to set up the slaughter picture: vinatori 5 archers 2 creatures one being a bull, the other being drake ran at us bull charged the tank goes down in one hit we tried to retreat but the archers got us and bull started getting the stuck in charge bug which killed us all pretty much for about five games then when i almost gave up switched my aw to do ranged and aoe attacks and use the arcane sword to  just deflect ranged attacks on me and got intoa group that actually talked responded and planned ona ohk group being in the run we knocked it out of the park almost all of us was level 19, it was fun playing  with that group we stayed together  for about 3 games ran into no problems at all

Alternatively, refusing to nerf a class in order cater to players who casually play and are rarely on is silly. You can have fun in routine and threatening with your katari. Go there. If you want to be effective with friends and help your group in perilous, put in your time as a keeper. The AW is the least fun character to play in the game (imo).

Keeper is better for a group when played by a competent player who knows how not to die and is good with the barrier.

They can also be the guys you need to resurrect every time there is a major threat.

I don't even like Katari, why would I play it? And fun is a very subjective thing.

But oh well, go ahead, cater only to the "elite". I'm sure that this will pull many new players into a game mode that even as it is - is not very popular.
