Possible place holder. But you should know that pretty much every sound effect is based on something we have on this world.

Definitely placeholder. Some craphat animator or sound designer probably did that thinking it made the Krogans sound better lol.

Like everyone else said, it's a placeholder. A rerendering of a Tuchanka highway in the new engine, no less.
That said...
Gotta wonder what that Reaper was doing with the Shroud to turn its output green before Shep and crew arrived on the scene.

What draws my attention is his physical appearance. He seems more dangerous. He's got that horn too. And for some reason he's naked.

The krogan doesn't look naked to me. He appears to have metallic plating around his legs and torso. His upper arms are exposed though.

It's his body, Krogans are like that. He has no clothes or armor, therefore he is naked.
