I haven't played very far, but what I've seen of him does sort of give me the Asperger's vibe.

I guess if I were to think about why that is, I'd say he sometimes goes down a weird path in conversations with people without realizing it, and he sees and thinks about things in a way different from most people. You might even point to his focused interest and unique talents in the Fade. And though savant syndrome isn't common with autism, it is related.

I think it's why I like him.

You'll understand more when you learn of his past. My Inquisitor became fast friends with him and he's one of my fav companions too.

There's a lot going on in that head of his.  That's all I'll say.

You'll understand him. As Caoimhe said, he's my favorite companion.

I would personally abandon the forums until you have beat the game. You will understand why Solas is the way he is by the end.

We're given specific reasons for why Solas seems to think and speak differently from others. He tells the Inquisitor up front when he first joins the party that he spent most of his life exploring the Fade. Ask him about himself, and he'll tell you as early as Haven that he spent most of his life wandering the wilderness, avoiding civilization, looking for ruins to sleep, looking for places to dream, and spent most of his life exploring the Fade and conversing with Spirits. Of course he's going to speak and think a little differently from average people who spend most of their lives awake and interacting with other average people just like them in civilized society. And we still learn more about him over the game beyond that.

Besides, there's more to autism than just thinking and speaking a little differently from what the masses are used to, and Solas fits none of the criteria. Autism and Aspergers is not the one-all, be-all explanation for people speaking and thinking a little differently from everybody else (especially when there is a reason given), and I'm tired of people acting like it is.

Solas does not strike me as someone who has any sort of mental disorder.

Introverted people are like that.

I agree... hanging around here is like asking to be spoiled OP.  Complete the game and then come back, or stick to the "No Spoilers" forum (although people still put spoilers in titles that get posted all over the place, so good luck with that).

Oh, and speaking of the OP, no I didn't get any kind of vibe like that, but I also don't know anything about autism so I would have no idea what to look for.

I think finishing the game first is best before you make your conclusions about the characters.

You're lucky that people didn't reveal that Solas is actually The Maker secretly sent to watch over you. Oops
