Drink or not to drink. That is the question. (spoiled potato warning)

This is kinda based on the story, so I guess it fits. If not please relocate if possible. ANYWAYS, The Well of knowledge thing. Does anyone know why nearly everyone, except Cass, Viv (who cares what she thinks), and The Iron Bull approve if you drink from the well. Yet, everyone else hates you for it. Shockingly even Solas, the person I'd of thought would approve of a fellow elf learning the truth of their people. Especially if you're clan Lavellen's First, you'd think drinking from the well would be instant Keeper promotion. I've always wondered this, but had no clue why the disapproval.

Because you don't know shite about the well and it could do bad things to you. That's what I figured anyway. I mean, 'the boon comes with terrible price'? It's incredibly reckless to drink from it.

And Solas is all anti slavery so you becoming a slave of Mythal is a no go for him.

Well I realize that you can only ask the three in your party at the time, but did you ask those three people?

They all agree that the well should be used. They all agree that it is potentially extremely dangerous for whomever drinks from it and that there could be unknown consequences down the line. I also think most of them agree on not attaining more power for the sake of "moar power!" -- this is particularly true for someone like Dorian, who is wary of the lessons of his countrymen.

What they don't agree on is whether the Inquisitor or Morrigan is the better choice. I think those who approve are having their distrust of Morrigan override their concern for the Inquisitor, OR they think that such power should only be in the hands of the Inquisitor who already has considerable power and has proven capable of handling it.

Don't drink the purple Koolaid. And in this case the purple Koolaid is full of the memories of millions of ancient elves that have been in the Koolaid for ages; and when you finally get their a hella lotta time has passed that Koolaid ain't goin to be good for you and may or may not lead to insanity plus the lovely addition of being an elven God's love slave.

Solas' disapproval is shocking?  Solas is the only party member who very specifically realizes the dangers of entering into a binding contract with Mythal...seeing as he knows for a certain fact that Mythal is alive and will use that control to her advantage.

Why can't we just have our companions drink it?

Seriously, there's no reason why none of them can drink from the Well.

Yes, Vivienne could've had it for all I care. She likes power, no?

I'd like to think Cassandra approves of not drinking the well because she doesn't want to risk her lover/friend/prophet.

I know you can ask the mages in the group, but I only know of Solas' response (a big "NO. Don't ask me again.").  I do think it would have been cool to have had the option to allow Dorian or Vivienne to drink from the Well.

The approval is a bit screwy in that quest. Cassandra suggests letting Morrigan drink yet disapproves if you do so. Solas calls Morrigan a glutton salving/salivating(?) at a feast and cannot be trusted, yet prefers her to drink based on approval. He knows more about it than he's saying but his dialogue says otherwise.

It comes down to who they think should drink; not if they should. Ex: if Leliana had approval she'd almost certainly approve of the inquisitor drinking based on her dialogue.

Dorian wouldn't do it on principle, and props for him for it too. I have no idea what Vivienne says about the Well since I never use her, but her obsession is with the power that comes from social status, not with old knowledge, so I can't see her wanting to drink from it, either. She's arrogant as anything, but she's not as stupid about it as Morrigan is. In fact, I can't really imagine any party member who'd do it.

Although if we are talking about all companions even temporary ones I could see sarcastic/funny Hawke doing it on a dare.
