In non-tactical cam, turn off re-center on selected character?

Hello!

In tactical cam, when I click a person's portrait, it doesn't center on the character, which I think is great. However, that doesn't seem to be the case in the normal third person view?

When I select another character, they quickly re-center the camera on that character which means I then have to move the camera up towards the front line again (where I was in the first place!) to select the target I want them to attack. It's rather tedious. Is there currently a way to disable this feature so I don't have to move the camera back all the time?

Thanks!

I personally find the new design of the tactical camera frustrating to manage. I'm on the 360 so maybe I just lack some conveniences, and from what I see pretty much everyone else is happy with the change, like the good sir above. After speaking with my friend I learned he also preferred having the selected character's point of view in tactical camera mode. The idea being, targeting a single enemy or specific area isn't when we feel we needs to take a methodical approach to combat. Bioware staff, please give us an option to change the camera back or let a button recenter the camera on the selected character. Not sure if that's possible, but maybe it was already an idea and there was just no visible audience asking for it to be implemented. Thanks either way!

There is no way to disable this. They just changed the behavior of the camera in the last patch. I think the idea is that if you are not in Tactical Cam then you want to be directly controlling that character, so you want to switch to their viewpoint.

What you are trying to do is play in tactical mode without switching to the tactical cam (giving orders to companions on the fly). The best trade off is to set a button to switch to tactical mode so you can quickly switch in and give orders and switch back to controlling your character (action mode). This is all I do, set the companions targets at the start of the battle and let the AI do its thing. Unfortunately because of the neutered tactical settings there is way to much micromanaging needed to have your companions fight with high efficiency. Some builds aren't even viable on companions IMO, like dual wield rogue that relies on positioning to be effective.

But unfortunately if you want to micromanage and want the camera to behave as it does in Tactical Cam mode, you will have to switch to TAC CAM to do it.
