I have the same issue. I recently upgraded cards from an Nvidia 9400 to a ATI 5850. I uninstalled all of the drivers but I think the system still thinks I have Physx installed. I downloaded it off of steam if that helps.

I have this problem also. Is this a Windows 7 problem?

If you uninstall your current version of PhysX and reinstall the one that came with the game, it works. The version difference isn't too much, so it shouldn't cause much of a problem.
Edit: The ME2 version is older than the current NVidia one, fyi.

Or just get the latest driver from the Nvidia website

The latest from the NVidia website don't necessarily work. Maybe I should've been more clear in that.

When nothing seems to help, try this:
1. Install the latest Phyx version
2. Go to "C:\\Program Files\\NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX\\Common"
3. Copy the three DLLs and paste it in your Mass Effect 2 "Binaries" folder.
4. Play the game.
It works fine for me.

I downloaded newest version of nviidia drivers 196.21. This one didn't work. Removed all drivers for card. Went back to 195.62 which downloaded automatically through windows. Works good now without error. Will try later to update driver, but for now just wanna play.
