What are the old gods? What are the forgotten ones and for that matter what are the elven "gods". the old gods themselves seem to be greater dragons and the elven pantheon just seems to be overpowered elves that let it go to their heads. The only ones we don't know are the forgotten ones and Dumat--if it was him helping Cory while Hawk and Company were fighting him.

All I know is that I managed to kill and then father one of them.  Figure that out.

The forgotten ones might be the forgotten gods of the dwarves given there is some evidence from the primal thaig that the dwarves might have once had gods but other than that there is a lot of mystery.

My wild guess the dwarven and elven gods were warring Solas maybe sealed them both away other than mythral then the elven empire ripped itself apart as the slaves rose up to throw down the dreamers. T

he Old gods might have been dragon gods from a time when dragons were more intelligent and lashed onto the Tevinter turning away from worshiping their absent creator god(who I suspect really left after creation or when the Tevinter started dealing with the forbidden ones, something forbid contact with them after all) so they would something intelligent to worship them. Later they went silent, the Tevinter tried to break into the golden city presumably to either become gods or make demands of the old creator deity they believed the city was the seat of.

We don't really know what the Old Gods are. Personally, I like to think that they don't necessarily have to be dragons just because they look like them. Flemeth, for example, can turn into a dragon too. But then again there is no evidence for this so they could be really powerful dragons.

And hmmm... did I miss something :?? We know who Dumat was - one of the Old Gods. And since he died during the First Blight it probably wasn't him.

One theory actually suggests that the Old Gods and Elven Gods are one and the same.

According to this theory, there seven Old Gods. There are nine Elven gods according to lore, but two of them—Mythal and the Dread Wolf—aren't sealed away, as we see in the epilogue. This, coupled with the myth that seven Old Gods were imprisoned underground by the Maker, and the myth that the Dread Wolf sealed away seven Elven gods into the beyond, gives these two different entities an interesting parallel. Might they be related?

I like the idea that the Forgotten Ones might be the forgotten Gods of the dwarves and the primavel thaig could point to that. I found this in the wiki:

According to an inscription in the Temple of Mythal, the Forgotten Ones had resided in a place known as the "Void," where no mortal nor god could have remained in.

So, what if Solas did seal them away? Maybe he sealed them away in the void?
