I like him as an indirect matchmaker in the romance arc.

I've personally seen a lot of folks with constructive posts who explained very well why they felt the content of Josephine like a dysney romance. I personally think it is a bit true actually. The classical style duel isn't the issue itself, it's how it was portrayed like an anime that was the issue. There are also other details I could explain, But I don't want to argue about Josephine in a useless topic that doesn't concern her.
I've also seen in the josephine thread people who said that they liked Josephine for what I said above.
The biggest complaint I've seen about Josephine personally is that people found her content or her personality boring. The lack of sex scene is also often mentioned but not alone. It just adds to what they disliked overall about her romance, it was hardly the only reason why they totally disliked her romance.
You also have other people who just find her ugly, but I wasn't talking about them.
Anyways, I'm not going to argue, I just wanted to know what you felt so wrong.

He's fantastic. He'll always be one of my favorite BioWare characters in any series, right along with Daelon Red Tiger, Shale and Garrus.
I'll miss him come DA4, after he's gone home to Kirkwall. I wish him well though. Poor guy needs a break.

I wouldn't be surprised if he showed up one more time, at least in a small way. I mean, they've done it for other loved characters (Alistair, Leliana).

Only if we go to Kirkwall. He thought that the Wounded Coast was too far out of the city back in DA2. I can't see him leaving again.

Good point. Although what I had in mind is him somehow showing up in Tevinter or something. Maybe to see that transgendered character from the comics again (forgot her name).

Oh, Maevaris? They were friends, but not very close. I have a feeling Varric has a lot of cousins beyond just Mae's late husband. I think Mae is going to be a companion in the next game, and I could see us going back to Kirkwall at some point with her. So we could see him again. I'm okay with him staying there though.

I honestly hope not, or if they do, they don't make it a wasted tie-in to this game. If you go mage (which I did my first two times,) you never even hear of her. Of course, I'm a big fan of Maevaris, so I've got some bias.
Mmm....I think there isn't going to be a satisfactory answer OP.
Everyone has different ideas of what makes a character 'attractive'. I'm not sure one can really generalize (which is how I'm reading the statement regarding gay men finding Dorian attractive) (please note, I'm not trying to be accusatory, but I just want to point out that there are probably gay men out there who were not enamored by Dorian's appearance, given that everyone has different tastes).
I've seen many posts from different using bemoaning the fact that they found all the straight male romance options ugly, and from others saying all the straight female options were also ugly. I think the answer to those posts is similar to the answer to this post. Everyone has different tastes, and everyone has a different definition of attractive.
I found the majority of straight female romance options attractive, though not necessarily what I would define as classically attractive (an example of this idea, on the males side, would be Anders, who's jaw is perhaps a touch too narrow for classic Hollywood style beauty. Nevertheless, he was my first choice when I played DA2). I personally found Isabela much more attractive once I gave her pants (modded). I never found Merill to be that attractive. I thought Morrigan became much more interesting after they redid her in Inquisition, though I've seen various posts muttering that her appearance should never have been changed.
I think there isn't a whole lot to say. If some who preferred Isabela's looks in LI options were disappointed in the options in Inquisition, I think others who preferred differing physiques were likely pleased by the options presented in Inquisition.

Well, Maevaris would be only one mage for the party. So why not both of them? I can be open minded. Could you imagine the banter?

The creators of Inquisition very, very intentionally went out of their way to make the appearance of companions in Inquisition reflect their personality in Inquisition. If you don't like the way the romance options look, don't romance anyone.
Frankly, you sir may deal with it.
Ideally, deal with it by not spamming the same thread over and over again.
