Why isn't this guy banned?

He's not out trolling or slamming others.  He's not picking apart posts like a pedantic freak and spewing garbage to everyone that disagrees with him.  He's like a broken record, but overall follows the rules and isn't attacking others.  Most of the time.   That's probably why.  <shrug>

That or the mods have bigger fish to fry.  Which is also likely.

Why can't we have a romance option like Isabella for straight male gamers? The gay male gamers got Dorian.

In Dragon Age 2, if you play a MALE HAWKE and wish to romance Isabella, you can. Isabella is extremely attractive.  To gay men, Dorian is extremely attractive.

So the question is why don't straight male gamers get an attractive romance option like Isabella, Morrigan or Leliana in Inquisition?

Please no trolling or flaming.

Bioware, just please answer the question, thank you.

(I really hope this thread stays open, thank you).

Responses to this thread:

Correct, but she is romance-able by a straight male hawke.

Dorian and Isabella are highly attractive.

The real issue is in the technical approach of the 3D geometry and the original concept art of Cassandra.

https://www.youtube....h?v=LS9vD12KxDg - The difference between male & female faces from an artists perspective.  Compare this data to Cassandra Pentaghast's geometry in 3D Studio Max.

Cassandra in 3D Studio Max - Compare every part of her face to the artists drawings in the above youtube link. I'm not going to give my personal opinon, instead I want the viewers of this thread to draw their own conclusion.

Yes, because Bioware games are highly immersive in every regard.  It's no different from being immersed in a hollywood movie that has intellectually stimulating and thought provoking content of a sexual or non-sexual nature.

I have no problem with that, I want everyone to be happy, not just a particular group of individuals.

Get a life. Beauty is subjective.

How about you stop whining and trying to manufacture an issue that isn't real?

Put anyone's face into 3d studio with basic lighting and no hair and they'll all look bland and of indefinite gender

I didn't see that in this OP.  I take it was one of the other threads he was making this weekend?

If this is like the "females everywhere?!?" thread (I think we managed to chase off the OP of that thread screaming, while filling his head with mental images of a nude Loghain,) I think that's probably about as much clarity as we're going to expect from the OP.

Oh, crap, he's not going One Winged Douchebag Angel on me, is he?  Damn it, good thing I have some elixirs ready to go.

I don't get the obsession with people wanting the female characters to look like airbrushed porn stars. You're not having sex with that character (though I suspect even the supposedly "ugly" women are way out of these complainer's league...), you're not even watching a porno, you're watching a story play out. If you don't think Cassandra's romance makes for a good story then don't do the romance. Otherwise, go back to your porn or ideally find a girlfriend in real life and stop spamming this.

It's also the same guy who wrote to complain to the lead writer about how his romance options were unattractive, and looked like men. That's probably what shocked me a bit. At this point, his issue has become very unhealthy. " Really, you write to a writer from a company to complain about the design of your romance options ? What is wrong with you ? " To me, this sounds like this guy is quite desesperate. He also spams the forum with different threads that are exactly the same. Romance features should never become this serious in my opinion. If you don't like your options, just ignore them. Attractiveness is a matter of taste.

I don't quite understand what is the meaning of this, what he expects. The Lis are what they are, nothing can be done to change them, deal with it and wait the next game where you could find probably better for you next time. I don't think romances could be so important in your game, that without it you really can't enjoy the rest of the game. At least that's what I thought...

Op needs to play Hatoful Boyfriend, then he can complain about how none of the romances look like feminine

I remember one of your posts from waaay back that talked about that you were very feminine and could be considered "girly" IRL, but you thought Cassandra was perfect the way she was.  :)

But straight male gamers do get attractive romance options - they're called Cass and Josie!

On an entirely unrelated note, I don't find Solas particularly attractive but I'm utterly adoring his romance right now...

Several members of the LGBT community on the BSN are asking for their knight in shining armor type.  I think it's time we had someone similar to Dorian or Isabela as an option for the straight/bi ladies.  So, you get a straight Robin Hood, they get someone like a gay Alistair or Cassandra.  It sounds like a win/win to me.   :)

I'd love this cause I'd like to have straight Robin Hood who was easygoing about sex. Though I'd prefer that this characters was LI for straight (and bi/pan) females ^^; Gay (/lesbian) KISA would be intresting as well though personally I'm not so into KISA's, well excluding some characters.

After meeting Bianca, I think he's telling the truth for a change.  I also think he might have been telling the truth in DA2, when he mentions to Hawke (if Hawke is romancing Merrill) that he's not into humans.  Hawke for most folks' world state is Varric's best friend.  Cass and Varric are opposites that clash, not attract.  I never got the impression that they were about to kiss.  The only companions I got that impression from do get together if unromanced, which was Dorian and Bull.

Oh yeah, I had to kill my Cadash/Varric ship fast before game came out.  I think I can still see some of the embers.

Welcome to my world.   I keep a time share here.   :P

Truthfully.. I don't care much what he canonically thinks about Cassandra. They are still my OTP ^^; I don't usually like canon OTP's that much and will just have my own one's that I think work out :) I guess I'll just keep my delusional dreams ;)

Sounds like fun.

And hey, nothing wrong with a little headcanon.  You're not hurting anyone, nor defending it to your last breath, so knock yourself out.    ;)

I do like Cassandra's design and will always prefer a character designed as a realistic character first rather than designed to be "hot."  I'm definitely sick of the persistent notion that female characters must always look like pinups and if they have any distinguishing features those features have to be minimal (ex: tiny scar for women vs huge disfiguring scar for men) or "feminized" (male character wears practical outfit for a job or task, female character wears the same base outfit but cut to be booty shorts, have a cleavage window, be skin tight, etc...) that's saying nothing of the idea that female characters can only have 3 body types:

-The fat old woman (usually a joke character)

-The young sexy woman (usually a love interest)

-The little girl (often the male hero's daughter that needs saving)

To be fair, BioWare does a really good job overall at mostly avoiding those kinds of pitfalls.

Don't be fooled, this is just another "The female LIs are ugly" thread in disguise.   ;)

I agree to an extent. They certainly did a great job with DA:I and other games like KotOR and SWtOR but Mass Effect 2 and 3 for example were pretty horrible in that regard.

As much as I do not agree with OP scientifically speaking there ARE facial features more common to man than women because of testosterone effects on skull bones. So yeah, it is not about beauty subjectivity. This is what marks the difference from the majority of males and female, not all of them of course since genetics and development can lead to females with tipical male facial structure and the males with female ones. Also these features are a reality and they mark the need of transexual women to make facial surgeries to look like cis women.

That being said, if I'm not wrong (been a while since I last played Inquisition since I hate the game) default female Hawke is more male than Cassandra. I mean, under the scientific inspection, specially because of her brow bone which is very rare in females...

Many women considered marvelously beautiful in Hollywood have "typical male" fetures to a certain degree, sometimes the jaws other the brows and so on. If the op was really honest he would say what he really wants: Sexualized women. And it is not wrong from a personal point of view since men learn to want it, to desire it. But it is wrong from a social justice point of view, of objectifying women.

We COULD argue about that IF Bioware represented the majority of games, but since almost ALL companies objectify and sexualize women mercylessly I don't think we can even argue about Bioware being right in choosing Inquisition women. So my opinion on this issue is: Play the other games. (They are better anyway, unfortunately). I doubt Witcher 3 will have person-like women, they will probably be your desired sex-dolls.

I won't argue feminism in this forum, I just want you to think about how many pretty babes we have in games and how many "Cassandras" do we have. I'm not saying she is ugly, I'm pretty sure that if you put long her and chainmail bikini in her legions of fans will suddenly appear, she is very standard beauty type to be honest. She is white, have delicate facial features and the body of a supermodel. She is FAR from a representation that would make a feminist happy BUT is alot better than what we have been seeing and is already too much feminism for men to accept.

But there is one point I agree with the OP. If they are going to please a certain public, please all of them. I'm not saying that is the case, but I'm in favor of fairness. If men are to be masculine than women should be feminine. If you are going to question the girlish features of women you should also question the maleness of man. I'm in favor of questioning gender roles, all of them. Specially in a world where Jesus was a woman and the church is commanded by women.

The OP is basically saying he'd like to have a love interest that he's physically attracted to.

I don't see anything wrong with that.

There are mountains of threads here in which people of all genders and sexual proclivities gush over their favourite fictional flings. "Romance" -- for want of a more explicit word -- has become a selling-point of BioWare games. Let's not deny it. So the OP's complaints shouldn't be discarded as shallow.

I'm sure many a girl would be less attracted to Cullen if he looked, acted and dressed feminine.

Straight women like strong arms, piercing eyes and deep voices, and straight guys like curves and a little bit of skin. That's life.

Does that mean BioWare should pander to pressure and release DLC outfits for Josie and Cass that make them look like loose-moraled tavern wenches?

Of course not. (Cass would probably kill you with her stare alone if you suggested she wear a skirt or show some cleavage.) LOL

But don't hate on a man for being a man, or on a woman for being a woman. It's futile.
