Why can't we have a romance option like Isabella for straight male gamers?

Maybe he multiplies. Like Agent Smith.

Still the best thing about the Sequels :D

But don't hate on a man for being a man, or on a woman for being a woman. It's futile.

We're not hating on him for being a man because he's basically a troll at this point

Oh get over it. One of their games without a women you personally find attractive won't kill you. Sometimes you'll get an  LI you actually like, sometimes you won't. I didn't like broody assholes in DA2, I didn't particularly like the straight men in Mass Effect, I certainly didn't like Anomen in BG2 and they have never had a guy who really matches my taste in terms of appearance (hell In DA:I I picked Solas and he is a scrawny bald dude with a butt chin)  but it doesn't matter because this is not a dating sim.

Oh and considering I  know someone who looks a lot like Cassandra in terms of face structure I don't give a rats arse what your video says,

You can't please an entire group of people.  For example, "genetically perfect" Miranda was not universally found hot, and you're free to ask the ME forums on that one.   There is a fascinating layer of nostalgia at work here.  No LI was ever liked by "all" of a general group of DA fans.   Not Morrigan, or Leliana, or Isabela, or any of the rest of them.   You could call all of those women I mentioned conventionally beautiful as well.  So this very notion that they "have to appeal to all of a public group" is fairly out-of-touch with reality.

Several members of the LGBT community on the BSN are asking for their knight in shining armor type.  I think it's time we had someone similar to Dorian or Isabela as an option for the straight/bi ladies.  So, you get a straight Robin Hood, they get someone like a gay Alistair or Cassandra.  It sounds like a win/win to me.   :)

You know personally, I'd really enjoy someone a little byronic, an anti-hero.

I know I'll probably get people mentioning Fenris and/or Blackwall, but that's not exactly what I'm going for.

Well, I only read the original post and a few rather scornful replies (including David Gaider's). I can only base my opinions on my personal observations.

Well, I only read the original post and a few rather scornful replies (including David Gaider's). I can only base my opinions on what I've personally witnessed.

This particular person has made several threads of this nature, to the point of spamming them over the course of the weekend.  He has called DAI "the gay game," he's said outright that both Cassandra and Josie were ugly to the point where both of them looked like men and just beat that into the ground.  This guy even harassed DG about the "ugly" LI options in this game on twitter.

Hence the scorn.  I'm not asking someone to find their LI choices attractive (Cullen's looks do nothing for me, as I'm not into generic blonde pretty boys,) but taking it to the level of harassing the lead writer is going too far.  Plus, again, thread spam over the weekend.

The OP is basically saying he'd like to have a love interest that he's physically attracted to.

I don't see anything wrong with that.

There are mountains of threads here in which people of all genders and sexual proclivities gush over their favourite fictional flings. "Romance" -- for want of a more explicit word -- has become a selling-point of BioWare games. Let's not deny it. So the OP's complaints shouldn't be discarded as shallow.

I'm sure many a girl would be less attracted to Cullen if he looked, acted and dressed feminine.

Straight women like strong arms, piercing eyes and deep voices, and straight guys like curves and a little bit of skin. That's life.

Does that mean BioWare should pander to pressure and release DLC outfits for Josie and Cass that make them look like loose-moraled tavern wenches?

Of course not. (Cass would probably kill you with her stare alone if you suggested she wear a skirt or show some cleavage.) LOL

But don't hate on a man for being a man, or on a woman for being a woman. It's futile.

He's not really getting mass attacked for his opinions, but he has swarmed multiple sections of the forum. It's just harder for some people to take his perspective seriously when he thinks it's something that needs to be acknowledged by as many people as humanly possible because it's just that important.

To OP original question:

Cause we direly need bugfixes and patches first. after that, hell yeah, bring back Izzy, no wait, my Hawke LIed her on 2, right. Anyway. Personally I'd love to see Zevran.

Oh, oops, apologies everyone, just saw the rest. Yeah, not on OP, not on....

Actually skull is considered to be not very reliable source in  determination of a gender, pelvis does much better job. The video has very simplistic approach, aimed at people with particular needs.

I don't know about you folks but I was real tried of the Madonna/******, Betty vs Veronica, Nice Girl and Bad Bad Girl thing that Bioware was doing in the last two games.

I liked how they changed it up in Inquisition.

But there is one point I agree with the OP. If they are going to please a certain public, please all of them. I'm not saying that is the case, but I'm in favor of fairness. If men are to be masculine than women should be feminine. If you are going to question the girlish features of women you should also question the maleness of man. I'm in favor of questioning gender roles, all of them. Specially in a world where Jesus was a woman and the church is commanded by women.

I agree that there is features that are seen masculine and others that are seen feminine. However there is no way to please all of players. OP is asking someone who looks like Isabela, but just looking at white Isabela mods out there, well she isn't the one everyone likes. Leliana and Morrigan aren't either.

I think Bioware actually has made lot of different looking male LI's in DAI. If you compare them to LI's in DAO and DA2, it's clear that DAO and DA2 have more conventionally attractive male characters, well not for me perhaps, but even a age-wise if you think about it. Solas, Blackwall, Iron Bull, Cullen and Dorian all look nothing alike and I like it so. In other hand Cassandra, Josie and Sera are all different as well so it's clear that Bioware has gone in a way that included characters that aren't maybe traditionally or I'd say stereotypically goodlooking, but sure they all differ which brings out their own charms. I love the diversity we got in this game and I really hope BW keeps it up :)

I've only read the first page or so of the forum. I've not followed the debate in detail, so just consider what I said to be my general opinion on the matter -- not a critique or endorsement of anything that's been said recently.

I didn't figure.   :)   I don't believe in ripping someone's post apart just because they have an opinion different from my own.   I know several folks in this thread that are the same way.

Hey :D

Well their writers and character creators have done good job at least ^^; So credit when it's earned I guess.

Too bad that Cassandra isn't actually that pretty in my PS3 though since her face sadly has quite mushy pixels, same with Leliana but not that bad. For some reason Josie looks great though.

I preferred it the other way, if only because we got some more variety.

Cassandra and Josephine aren't exactly as different as Leliana/Morrigan or Jack/Miranda

I do agree that next game it would be nice not to have two human pro-Chantry LIs for the straight male characters in the next game.   Maybe change up the looks some; after all, I don't think straight male characters in DA have had a blonde lady as an option.  Perhaps have one of them be anti-Chantry, or a follower of the Stone (yes, I'm a Harding fan.)   I'm down for that.

Huh, if anything it's been all brunettes as lady LIs minus Leliana.

I do agree with Comedic though.  There are ways to do that without it turning into a constant catfight.

That's what I was thinking. I'm by no means endorsing a "madonna/******" paradigm, but I've never really thought that Bioware writes straightforward examples of Betty and Veronica types.

Morrigan could easily be interpreted as more innocent than Leliana, for example, if one factors in Leliana's wordliness and background as a Bard.

Something similar goes on in the differences between Merril and Isabela. Merrill is the more innocent, yet she's made some choices that could easily be interpreted as darker.

I've always found it fascinating how much it can vary by perspective.

True, but there will still be at least one devout follower of Andraste in there somewhere.  We had Leliana in the first game, Sebastian in the second and now both Cass and Josie in the third.   It seems to be a tradition, but hopefully we won't be up to our eyeballs in ecumenical politics again.  I outright groaned when I realized that part of my Inquisitor's role was picking/guiding one of the ladies as Divine.
