I love that response to things. Just mock random people while taking other ones deadly serious.
I've never known Gaider to mock random people. From what I've seen, he always chooses his targets deliberately. And correctly.

Gaider is on record (at a Gaymer convention, I think) for stating that they do not like to make LIs, or companions in general, who are very similar to ones from the past.

And really, what's the point if you can't mock certain targets?
One thing is clear: most of us would really like OP to clarify what they find so similar about Dorian and Isabela.
I'm still waiting op

If DAI is any indication, the real way to get listened to is to make one thread, and just have it ramble on for a billion replies until Bioware thinks it's a significant enough share of the market to listen to. Worked for the "Why can't we see more Lady Inquisitor in the marketing" and the Cullen general threads, didn't it?
This seems like a double standard. You're sarcastically mocking the importance of the Cullen and Female Inquisitor marketing threads, so why is it okay when you do it, but not when someone else does it?
For the record, I couldn't have cared less about Cullen or advertising. They meant nothing to me. But by the same token, whether someone finds a fictional female character feminine enough also means nothing to me.
You, on the other hand, seem to take issue only when someone does it to something you care about or agree with. As soon as you think it's silly, you have no problem dishing out the criticism and sarcasm.
Because Isabela was already a love interest in a previous game.
And I don't see really any similarities between Isabela and Dorian, other than the fact that they're both not white, but Josephine isn't either, so that must not be it.
But now you've got me thinking about how hot of a pirate Dorian would be, so good on you.

Oops, I misread that. Nevermind.

Perhaps "random" is the wrong word. But yes, his targets are always deliberate - and always of a certain viewpoint. Never the opposite.

Guess what. It is a double standard, because I've never seen any thread mentioning Cass' attractiveness or lack thereof go without the peanut gallery laughing it up and trolling the threads until the mod shuts it down. You just aren't allowed to mention it if you don't think she's attractive and want a better looking LI. Literally every time.
If Bioware paid half as much attention to the title involved, perhaps it wouldn't be quite such a buggy mess.
Other than Rivani descent and a criminal past (Duncan was a thief prior to joining the Wardens after his parents died,) I can't think of two DA characters that are much more different in attitude, goals, motivation, sense of honor, age and just about all of their defining characteristics.
They have good looks in common. ![]()

Okay, true enough. ![]()
Also, good to see ya around again. Been a bit.

Does anyone realistically expect a thread complaining about a companion's appearance with regards to romance to warrant serious discussion?

So you wanting a female character that you're attracted to isn't okay for sarcasm, but other people wanting Cullen in the game, or a female in the marketing is? That's a double-standard.
BioWare closing threads that whine about LIs isn't a double standard, because they don't do that - the moderators do. This is a forum, not a video game. What happens here as far as love interests go has nothing to do with QA.
You not getting what you want in a love interest has nothing to do with what the QA team is doing, period. You are basically inventing reasons to whine.

Especially when said person has spammed the entire forum with it
Why can't we have a romance option like Isabella for straight male gamers? The gay male gamers got Dorian.
Please no trolling or flaming.
Bioware, just please answer the question, thank you.
Do you see Isabella in the game anywhere? Eh? Eh? Obviously a rogue pirate has no place inland.
Especially when said person has spammed the entire forum with it
And there's that. When people play the same note over and over again, it's like it's begging for a fart sound as a retort.

Remember the elves in DA2? Remember how everyone on the boards complained so vehemently until the elven designs for DAI were changed? Appearance.

I don't care at this point, I just get a laugh of how bipolar the board is when it comes to something.
What I do care about is this tendency to "drown out" opinions just because a group of posters doesn't personally approve of it. It wouldn't be allowed in either of those threads, and they're pretty (heavily?) moderated to keep it out. Yet when it comes to something like this, it's a free-for-all. When Bioware has shown a tendency to listen to the forums about things, effectively censoring another viewpoint through troll swarming it is by no means a good thing.
Especially when said person has spammed the entire forum with it
But, really, is making 30 threads in every sub-forum on the site spamming? I think we should take it seriously until #35 or 36 at least.
(Dorian would make a fabulous pirate, though. If only the poor baby didn't get seasick.)
But now you've got me thinking about how hot of a pirate Dorian would be, so good on you.
I believe he was totally supposed to be a pirate once. Just take a look at his old concept art, on the left.

The definitive 'hot pirate' right there. Srlsy. Mrroww.

That pirate could totally convert me to piracy.
