Here's an idea: Why don't you state why you'd prefer someone like Isabela.  It can't be just her big bosoms and tiny waist that some folks like the OP miss.  She was funny and fun in many ways, something I can certainly see.  I had fun with her romance as well, and I loved joking with her.  

 

Josie and Cassandra do come across as very buttoned-up, and I can definitely understand why some guys are asking for variety.  I know it's more than just the OP that liked Isabela and wouldn't mind seeing another character like her.  C'mon, it should be more than just Isabela's looks, right?  

 

Instead of complaining about folks discussing the subject that are disagreeing with the OP, add your thoughts to the thread beyond that.  Otherwise, complaining about the complainers is just as bad if not worse than mocking the subject.

One thing that's pretty amusing to me is that, before the DA series, BioWare seemed to have a thing for giving straight guys elves in their fantasy games.   BG2 had pretty much all elven (or half-elven) love interests.  Then there was Aribeth in NWN.   Then DA came along.  For the last 6 years now, it's been human with one exception.  Straight guys really do need some more variety.   

 

Oh, and one thing I do miss about Isabela: She was almost always upbeat and making the best of a situation.  Even when the city goes down in flames, she's trying to take it in stride.  I loved that about her.  It seems like most of the other romances are pretty serious.  I guess that's one of the reasons why I like the Bull romance.  I really enjoy having a LI that I could joke and have fun with.

I was going to mention this. Trolling threads to deliberately get them locked needs to stop. If you don't like the message of a thread, by all means post a civil counterargument explaining why you disagree, but don't call the OP (or his/her entire gender) names and generalize a whole group of people. Trying to censor people you disagree with is never the answer.

 

I had a very serious thread about this kind of behavior (indirectly) and what did one of the people do? Find someone that posted in my thread, and attacked them to get the thread locked immediately after. I think that person did it on purpose. Why they cannot take the insult to pm, or why the moderator cannot just issue warning points to the account is beyond me, but they always win. The baby always wins.

Agreed.  Straight guys have gotten the least racial variety and it would be nice to see them get some options that aren't just humans.  Also, lesbians haven't gotten a ton of variety in the classes of their options.  It'd be nice to see some warrior and mage f/f gals.  So far, Merrill is the only f/f companion LI who isn't a rogue.

 

Straight guys - 5 humans and 1 elf; 1 warrior, 2 mages, 2 rogues, and 1 NPC

Straight gals - 5 humans, 3 elves, and 1 qunari; 4 warriors, 2 mages, 2 rogues, and 1 NPC

My post is not flame bait nor is it trolling, it's 100% genuine and serious.  Dragon Age games are very important to me. A lot of you have insulted me at a personal level, this is my response to you.

 

Dear Gay men & women, straight women,

 

I'm a straight male gamer, but at this point I'd rather you guys be happier than me.  I wouldn't mind if every Dragon Age game from now on caters more to your sexual preferences rather than mine, but all I ask is that there is one highly attractive female to romance for us straight male gamers, you can call me a shallow loser if you want, I don't care, I love Dragon Age. In exchange, the rest of the party members can be gay/lesbian or highly attractive males.  I seriously won't mind if I have like 5 companions in the party who are gay men or lesbian. Hell, you can make everyone in Thedas gay & lesbian and I wouldn't hate.

 

I genuinely want the LGBT people to be happy.

I genuinely want more female gamers to enjoy RPG's.

 

I want you guys to enjoy Dragon Age to the highest degree and am willing to settle for just one attractive female romance option per Dragon Age game.

First off, if you actually read your thread, there has been several posts from straight men that think Cassandra is highly attractive.  The same with Josie.  Your tastes are obviously very subjective.  Some agree with you, some don't.  One person's idea of a "highly attractive person" varies greatly.

 

Actually, you can approach physical beauty on a technical level.  You can easily create a female face that 99% of straight men will find attractive.  However, skin tone plays a huge part in attraction, so allowing the player to change skin tone would be in order.  Dragon Age 2 already did this with Hawke's family.

Secondly, I know most straight men that are attracted to multiple types of women.  

 

They find women like Isabela and Morrigan attractive as well as women like Josie and Cassandra.   Most straight men I know don't just confine themselves to one type.  They've been posting here in this thread, and many of them have been requesting a little variety for the next game. 

 

Finally, you're not even specific with your physical requests here.  Is it big boobs, a small waist and longer hair that you want?  Is it a blonde?  A redhead?  A human?  Some Dalish love?   You're really being vague and you don't have to be.  It's your thread about physical looks.  Is that boob plated "Cassandra" the only example of what you mean by a highly attractive woman? <that came off snarky.  My apologizes, but the question is sincere.>

Agreed. Plenty of straight guys, including myself, find Cassandra and Josephine very attractive. I wish people would stop using "us" and "we" in these sorts of discussions, as attractiveness is very subjective.

You cannot have someone like her, because there happened to be no one around like her. There. Better luck next game. I didn't romance anyone in my canon playthrough because none of their personalities jived with me - so I went with it. It's okay. That's just how things are sometimes. I did not feel cheated. And I'm not saying this as in "I overlooked a factual shortcoming of the game", but rather "sometimes in a group, there are zero people you are going to want to do the sex with".

 

Seriously folks, what the hell. So many features felt like they were added solely because of that damned survey; I am not willing to put the exact specifications of potential mates on some list for the next game. There have to be some suprises left in these things. In fact, when they revealed ALL the romance options prior to release, that was the day I unfollowed the official twitter.
