Why can't we have a romance option like Isabella for straight male gamers?

Yeah, the video and opinion are extremely silly. What do you mean by "maybe", because there is no maybe about it, both Cassandra and Josephine are women. Yeah, attractiveness is of course subjective, but how exactly are they manly?

Look at them? they hide their bodies so its quite hard to tell if they are females, their voices sound female but its hard to judge and their faces have very male definitions, square jaw, short hair, scars etc..Eyes look male.

I guess it's also often forgotten that straight male gamers aren't only one's that play m/f-romances so what non-straight male gamers think of m/f romances still matter. Without Cassandra as option for m/f romance I don't think I'd play straight male character, she's awesome and everything I want.

Since others made lists, I think I will do one just for fun:

1. Cassandra

2. Isabela

3. Morrigan

4. Merrill

5. Leliana

6. Josephine

Added Merrill cause there is no reason she isn't there when all other female LI's (available for straight male Inquisitor) are.

One thing I've noticed is whenever people bring up Cassandra and Josephine having manly features, almost always are the old pictures that don't actually look like the characters we got in the game used.

"Just look at them."

Seriously.  That's your big argument?

And yeah, they are different.  For one, I can almost promise you that unless the blonde is wearing a serious push up bra under that (which is possible,) those are not her natural breasts.   Gravity doesn't work that way.   For another, I can see both the color of her eyebrows and the split ends.  That means it's a dye/highlight job.  So that's not her natural hair color either.  Also, even stock photoshoots like that get airbrushed.

Oh and news flash: That's from Alpha.  My gods, if you're going to insist on this rather bizarre mindset, at least post some images from the released game.  Not from the summer of 2013.

<snip>

Cassandra and Josie aren't hiding their bodies. They are dressed up according their jobs and personality. Personally I'd love to see Cassandra more in heavy armor like Aveline used, but I guess Cassandra likes light armor more, maybe it's more her combat style.

Tons of women have square jaw, short hair and scars. Short hair and scars aren't male definitions, other is hairstyle widely used and other is something you get from your job. Or are you trying to say that men are born with scars?

...but he said they were "random" pictures...maybe it is just a case of a bad rng that keeps coming up with the same result...

Can anyone tell me, exactly, what looks mannish about this picture of Josie that's actually from the released game?

...yup it is a common problem for women with this type of face and hair, that they keep getting hit on by straight females and gay men who mistake their gender...

I´ll guess I will fix that by just taking a different "random" picture...

*sheepishly* I kid, I kid!

To give a fair answer to OP and other people in that camp:

If we polarize masculine and feminine based on our current cultural standards, then yes, Cassandra in the way she carries herself, the hardened face, her dialogue etc. comes off as more masculine, or "butch" if you want to call it. I believe this is an entirely intentional character design, and some people will find those things attractive in a woman, some won't.

But when you bunch up Josephine as also being masculine, it just makes the whole point ridiculous. Because Josephine is the opposite of Cassandra, she doesn't have any of Cassandra's features, her shape is softer and she is basically a barbie. Claiming that they are both masculine means that you have set the standards of masculine so wide that anything and anyone will fit the profile. Then Leliana, Merrill and Isabela also fit in there somewhere.

If one of them is masculine, the other one isn't it, you can't have it both ways...

Go to Nexus and get the Cass mod. Cass makes an awesome LI for my female Inquisitor. Especially after I removed the scar and applied some makeup!

The dialogue is awesome as well.

Huh.  See, Josie always looked a lot like this actress to me.  Josie looks like she's wearing a little more eye makeup and has darker skin.  This actress is as dark as Josie in some roles:

That's Indira Varma.   That's also Vivienne's voice actor, but I always felt her looks resembled Josie.

Still out of likes?  WTH?

Excellent, I'm glad I'm not the only one.  I had a good chuckle when I found out that Indira was Vivienne's voice actor once I saw the finalized screenshots for Josie.

I'm so puzzled about the scar thing though. Cassandra is close-combat warrior with swords and people expect that she has no scars? Like for real. Do these people even know what causes scars? It's not your gender btw, it's when something cuts skin. Like swords.

It's the fact she has a large and fairly recent scar going down the side of her cheek.  I doubt the little ones matter in this case.   That particular scar isn't subtle or small either.  This apparently is extremely troubling for some and would need to drink to try her romance as a result of that plus the dreaded short hair (it's in a braided crown, it isn't a short cut like it was in DA2) and the jawline.

That last part still baffles me.  I don't get what's up with the jawline thing myself.    I've heard men in real life comment when a woman seemed to have a big Adam's Apple, but never gone "gee, that's a strong jawline for a woman."

She's warrior so scars, big one's as well, are excepted. Battle scars are naturally large cause swords and other sharp things trying to kill you. She's warrior so she should wear them proudly since battle scars are plus for warriors. Warrior without battle scars is like tattoo artist without tattoos.

Tons of women (celebs too) have same jawline as Cass so it shouldn't that big deal, but I guess someone just want women always have heartshaped face and other shapes not permitted ^^;
