Why can't we have a romance option like Isabella for straight male gamers?

That's not the basis on which they were being compared, though. In this specific case, they were being compared on the basis of being able to change the characters with romance storylines into whatever the player wants. Given the way characters are written in DA:I versus how they were written in Skyrim, I really think there is no way that comparison is a legitimate one.

It's like comparing Call of Duty to Mass Effect. Sure, you can find similarities if you try hard enough, but arguing that one game needs to change its fundamental approach to be more like the other because they are in direct competition by being "shooters" is a really, really big stretch.

Ah I don't take issue with that, but this blanket statement that Skyrim and Inquisition can't be compared because they are completely different styles of games is not true. Read AresKeith's post that I responded to.

Also Skyrim and Inquisition have much more in common than Mass Effect and CoD. At least make a fair comparison.

Thing is...

DAO is like...? DAO

DA2 is like...? DA2

DAI is like a LOT OF THINGS. Clearly a loss of identity.
List goes like:

Kingdoms of Amalur

Skyrim

Generic Korean MMORPG (TERA, Aion and so on)

Dragon's Dogma

Divinity 2

Devil May Cry 4 (the special glowing hand...)

Mario Creed: Templars and Stars

I liked her hardass badass attitude. Was completely turned off by the shy and innocent trope they gave her.

Cassandra has the tsundere appeal.

Cassandra has the tsundere appeal.

Cassandra isn't even the real Cassandra.
That is what really makes her ugly.
If she had always been like she is in Inquisition then it wouldn't be an issue. She'd be ugly, but it would be manageable.... well... aside from her atrocious personality...
BUT she isn't even herself any more. She isn't recognisable as the same Cassandra any more. Every time I look at her I see a liar, a poor excuse for a doppelganger... a fake stand-in.  She is unattractive because she is a fake Cassandra.

I'd except anime-crowd to like her ^^

Serious? Never.
Lying? Also never.

It is in my nature to be almost perpetually facetious and yet simultaneously mean exactly what I say.

Not only anime-crowd, i think, that sort of attraction is very typical, but I suppose it would be more obvious to those familiar with the term.

Wait. He is right somehow. I love Cassandra but no way in hell I accept she is the same character. It is ridiculous how they feminized her. When it comes to appearance she is more "male", ok, in fact I would call it less anime, but her personality was a HUGE let down. She is almost a silly girl in Inquisition, all fragile and stuff. Don't we already have a Disney Princess in Josephine? Did we need a Disney Princess in disguise like Cassandra?

I'm tired of strong women being shown as secretly weak and frail.

I can understand people still liking her, I do, but saying she didn't change is not right. Well it is not technically a change, it is more of a revelation, but since we only knew her from her DA2 behaviour, then yes, she changed and became a shy girl full of doubts in desperate need of a romantic man. SO SAD. It seems even Bioware is not ready for a woman that is physically and mentally strong. An independent woman who doesn't need a man. When a woman is like that (arguably), like Isabella, she needs to be sexualized and feminine.

Anyway... that was not the point but in a sense we could say she changed, a lot in fact.

It's pretty sad that we've reached the point where anything is believable on this site.

The same thing they did with Anders in DA2.

"He is a male love-interest. WE MUST MAKE HIM WHINY AND NEEDY!"

Ugh. Fvck that.
Gimme some Garrus instead. Dat targeting-visor. Mmmmmm. Sexy eyewear...

When you've been told that Cassandra is a rapist by someone who was entirely serious, it's hard to continuing assuming that absurd statements are intended as jokes.

I do kinda agree that her having soft and romantic-side isn't that intresting to me, I'd have preferred her being rock-solid. I'm not really against her being like she is though, but it's not what I would have preferred.

She was never truly rock-solid though, the movie about her even showed this

I don't mean emotionless or robotic, but hmm more harder maybe. At least less romantic cause romantic stuff is cheesy :P It's how it is though and according to Gaider's vision so I wouldn't change it anymore.

Cassandra the rapist?

I'm not really here nor there on that subject... She isn't the real Cassandra anyway.

The only one I tried to romance so far was Blackwall... and that was super-awkward because I actually totally hate beards...
I mean I thought I was okay with it... but then Blackwall leaned in to my Inquisitor for a mouthful and I was all "EW! CTHULHU TENTACLES! GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!"

Joke was on me. He wasn't the real Blackwall either.
And since Cullen isn't the real Cullen and Iron-Bull is a Qunari ...  Well... I'll be playing gay characters from now on.

I really don't see Cassandra being a romantic and an intellectual as a weakness.

The same thing they did with Anders in DA2.

Anders? Why just  Anders? Female players need  a degree in psychology to romance in  every single DA game.
