Right now I'm playing a female human. So far, I've taken a few romance responce options with some of the men to get a feel for them. I think I'm going to pick Cullen for this play through, but it seems rather... slow. I get romance options quite often with the other characters, even Dorian whom I can only flirt with on a playful level. The last romance option I got for Cullen was asking if he had anyone "special". It doesn't help that I feel like I rarely get any chat dialog options for Cullen.

I know by reading a few walkthroughs you can't; 1) Be in a relationship with anyone else, or 2) Talk about lyrium - at all. How do you KNOW if you are in a relationship with another character? I figured it'd have to hit that obvious "I have feelings for you" crap or hitting the bedroom (DAO made it pretty obivous you were hitting relationship status). Now as far as the lyrium thing goes, I don't THINK I've talked to him about lyrium yet. She just recently got to her shiny, new castle (and she has mages for allies), but I don't recall a lyrium discussion thus far.

Anyone romance Cullen yet that can give me some feedback to see if I'm on track (or if I've possibly screwed up)?

Things only starts to progress with Cullen after arriving to Skyhold. In Haven you're stuck with those few flirt options, just like with Bull and Blackwall. Dorian may seem more flirty but that's also his nature. Cullen is more careful and reserved. He has become my favorite romance option and I always try to get to Skyhold as quickly as possible. And his inner circle quest is always the first one I do. The man is simply adorable.

 

Also, you can talk about lyrium but never ever tell him to start taking it. You have to complete either 'Here Lies the Abyss' or 'Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts' to get that part ('Perseverance'). I always do the HLA.

 

And when you commit to a relationship with anyone, you get a notice text above the conversation wheel about it, either that you commit or not, depending of the response choice you choose.

Oh nice so it alerts you! That's good. I was starting to wonder if I screwed up somewhere. I'm about to start playing again and I'll keep an eye out for those quests you mentioned. Thanks!
