One thing you need to know about London and UK in general is that while that church or cathedral was built in the 13th century it was built out of stone most of the time. The buildings especially the ones built in the last 50 or so years are built out of much cheaper and much less durable materials. And a lot of them already show strain just being upright. After WW2 a lot of buildings were thrown together quickly and cheaply which meant that the quality has suffered quite a lot. I would not be surprised that by 2050 or so none of them would be standing apart from the ones specifically preserved as some kind of "cultural" thing.

Concrete rot is already a problem in a lot of cities. I'm still hoping for Rotterdam to collapse within my lifetime (it's made entirely out of concrete after the Jerries bombed it in 1940) and something decent to be built in its place. If you look at Warsaw or Dresden for example, you'd find both concrete replacements of the lost buildings, but also a lot of effort made into rebuilding the old buildings using proper materials and techniques. Just guess which ones will still stand in 300 years. Not the concrete ones.

Its not just concrete rot, a lot of housing has been made out of substandard wood and brick. The house frames have been warping strong enough so that windows dont fit in the old holes for them, they are not straight anymore. And then there is the whole issue of entire housing estates built on flood planes. And because if floods quite often the foundations are basically rotten.

And if we talk about the city centres, a lot of newer buildings and foundations have been built using concrete that while classified as quick setting is not actually completely set. So in ten or twenty years depending on how much leeway the builders were using the buildings would need major repair work just to stand.

So yeah I think by the turn of the next century most of the buildings built in between 1939-2015 would be gone. The old stone buildings will still stand but all the newer construction will be replaced.

Same goes for most other cities on Earth, probably Dubai is also going to need rebuilding in a few decades, I just cant believe that building a city this fast would be good.

In America there has been some talk about solar roadways. Instead of concrete and cement, most would use some type of alloy to collect energy from the sun. Apparently roads would also have lights on them. I never watched the presidents conference on it, though... All the talk of buildings just reminded me of it.
