Varric gets Carver's story wrong (Dragon Age 2 spoilers)

I've just started playing DAI after making all my choices in the Keep and importing it into the game. Recently I went to talk to Varric in DAI, and he told me about Hawke's companions, but he got one thing seriously wrong. Hawke's brother Carver died in the Deep Roads expedition, but Varric talked about what Carver went on to do after the end of DA 2... which couldn't have happened because Carver died long before that.

Has anyone else encountered this? It's worrying because I wonder what other story details are incorrect. I'd like to think it's just Varric lying to the Inquisitor, but that seems unlikely since Varric normally gets all the important details right, even if he does embellish a lot. If not that, I'm hoping it's just a rare bug.

Its a keep import issue that pops up every so often, a lot of people have reported and its not just Carver. One or two details may be out of whack but the rest should be fine. In the end since the decision go back to the keep anyway, you can just change the wrong ones and you're all set for DA:4

Thanks for your reassurance. It's a shame some details slipped through the cracks. I love those moments when one of the events from the previous games shows up, even in a very small way.

I've played a bit more recently, and found that every detail so far has been wrong! I talked to Leliana, and she referred to The Warden as the wrong gender, mentioned that they died (yet my Warden lived), and mentioned meeting Hawke's sister Bethany, which should have been impossible since she died before reaching Kirkwall! Gah! Either the Keep is absolutely awful at importing, or the import didn't actually go through. I'm quite peeved at this point. I feel like all my progress is wasted.

May not have gone through, that little bit you described sounds similar to the default state

Leliana mentions Bethany because she had been a Chantry sister in Lothering before the Hawke family had fled the village.

Welp, I figured out that it's my fault. I didn't realize that my world state didn't sync automatically. There was a green check mark, so I assumed that meant the sync went through. I had to lock my decisions in (via the padlock button on the right pane), then it gave me the option of exporting to Inquisition. Bollocks. Oh well, time to start a new game.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I have the same problem.

Varric got the story wrong for many of Hawke's companions from DA:II.

How can I make sure my import was successful?

I remember locking the World State and even took a video on my phone when I started playing DA: Inquisition that said the import was successful and I clicked "confirm."

I have over 5 hours of gameplay and it would be devastating to start all over again.

Go into the Keep, copy your most recent play through state to the editable states, and that should allow you to check the imported decisions.

I started off as a female warrior by mistake and immediately deleted that save.

Apparently, the Keep still believes I am a female warrior by the name of "Evelyn," despite the fact that I'm playing as "Maxwell," a male warrior.

Must I start the entire gave over again so that I can import the game properly? Also, how do I "delete" the female warrior and start off as a male warrior. I unlocked the World State and changed the character to Maxwell. Is that sufficient?

EDIT: I can't even click "save" so as to edit a current play-through world state.

Dragon Age Keep is pathetic. What is the solution? The tutorials lack clarity and I know for a fact that my saved World State imported SUCCESSFULLY to the new male warrior, and I have video evidence to prove this.
