Its because bad taste combined with impractical clothing is worse than the darkspawn, I am sure there's is a line in the chant of light about it that got cut out along with the parts about elves.

I live in the American south. In the summer, it's hot as balls. I would go around as naked as the day I was born, if I could.
How unfortunate that in this day and age a person's ability to love and nurture a child is based on fashion sense. In my job, I am considered a mandated reporter and I can say that when weighing a decision about what constitutes a good parent, what they are wearing would never be a consideration. If so, I would report anyone wearing polyester and animal print.

Not sure what's the problem. Long as she does her job she can wear whatever she wants. It's not like I'm taking her into combat.

Yes, because what clothes you wear determines your behavior as a mother. When I am walking down the street and see a woman with a child and she isn't wearing something "appropriate", the first thing I do is report her. She won't be raising a child on my watch! I also started a petition for all mothers to be required to wear victorian aged swimwear. Kids cannot be allowed to view their mother as a strong, independent thinking woman who is confidant and doesn't bend to social stigma. If you are a mom and you don't dress in full body clothing, then gtfo. Amirite?
Typical idiotic BSN answer. It's not what I think, it's what you can see in reality and has nothing to do with social rules. In general, women with childs, except of most teeny mums, become more mature, when they get a child. What Morrigan wears is the outfit of a party babe, who enjoys life.
Show me a picture of a "strong and independent" woman with such slutwear in company of her children!

Sarcasm is sweeter. You're attempting to use IRL western standards of prudery in a fictional setting where they don't apply. You're also trying to cover it up with 'well society dictates'. This just in, boobs aren't horrible things and low cut shirts have zero impact on someone's sexual behaviour. Morrigan dresses how she prefers, and no amount of rustled jimmies because omg she's showing skin is going to destroy her child.

Morrigan is a shapeshifter. After probably spending a good deal of her life in the Wilds running around naked while in different animal forms, since animals have no need for such things, her thoughts on the necessity of different types of clothing probably greatly differ than most peoples.

It isn't reality. Don't assume your narrow minded views on parenthood is the norm. In general, women can wear whatever they wish, whether they are a mother, a wife, a daughter, an aunt, etc. They have the right to do so without some quaker coming along and judging not only their character, but their ability to parent. I wonder how old you are, because a mature person would know there is a lot more to being a parent than what clothing you wear. Also, stop using the word "****" to describe a fashion choice. It's derogatory and is the last resort of someone who can no longer hold up their arguments.
Furthermore, I know quite a few people who have children and enjoy life to the fullest. I have never heard one of them say, "Gee, you know, I would enjoy life so much more if my clothes weren't so nun-ish." What a ridiculous statement.
I don't have to provide a photo of good mothers who wear little clothing. In the summer, you can see it all the time. You're a pretty shallow person if you think someone cannot be a good mother unless she dresses like some ideal 1950's housewife. Stability, love, nurturing, fairness, kindness, compassion, devotion, etc. is the recipe for a good mother, not fabric and thread.
Morrigan's clothing is iconic, as is her "I don't care for conforming." attitude. I wouldn't have minded seeing an updated version, since so many years passed, but I would expect that even an updated version would have been suited for her personality and would have been just as scant.

I can't believe you are calling other poster's answers idiotic and then starting a diatribe regarding women "in genera", wearing some sort of, "in reality", after-pregnancy style, "party babes" and worst, an "only-in-your-head" correlation between "strong and independent women" and the way they dress. All this extrapolated to the fantasy world of Thedas and to a shapeshifter witch, whose own mother dress like a senior dominatrix, can turn into a dragon and has the spirit of a goddess sharing her body.
What's next? Are you expecting her to send her son to bible reading summer classes?
How long have you been out of your medication?

Wasn't sure where to put this but since it does contain a major spoiler , here it is.
Does anyone else find Morrigan's outfit in the Skyhold gardens, a tad inappropriate especially when standing in front of her son? It was basically a bikini and a scarf around her neck. Every time I watch that cutscene I find her outfit a bit... distracting. I didn't mind it in DAO , of course, but it seems a bit revealing to wear around her kid.
Hah hah! Must be a 'merikan thing again.
(sorry other 'merikans
)
I would have been more concerned that the outfit would have her sexy ass frozen in the high altitude among the mountains, everywhere around the castle you could only see snow and ice.

Such prudery. Morrigan's outfit is perfect fine imo. Equally because she's a mother doesn't mean she should dress to cover up every inch of skin.

It's really weird to see how in some scenes the camera makes it look like he's almost eye-level with his mother, while still speaking in that airy, childish voice. Creepy as hell.
As for Morrigan's dress... I don't think it matters that her son is present or not... she should perhaps avoid those clothes for another reason: comfort. I get it that she needed to be the edgy, rebellious daughter of the Witch of the Wilds in DA:O... but she is a powerful mage now, and a decade older. She doesn't have to prove anything to anyone... So why wear a feathered leather pauldron and a leather skirt everywhere?
Let's say she finds it comfortable to walk around a castle which sits on a freaky snowy mountaintop in just a bra... let's say that... but hardened leather was never and will never be the most comfortable thing to wear. Morrigan was all about pleasing herself... wasn't she? So why not wear a beautiful but comfy dress? Or Pants?
I think the only reason she wears that is because of player nostalgia.. The devs thought we might like to see her in her iconic look so Morrigan is wearing it.
