That's quite old news, honestly. It was announced in, what? Last November?
I enjoyed Halo 4, but the campaign was pretty short, sadly. It was not nearly as amazing as Reach, though, but all in all, I think the writing was good enough. One problem with the narrative was that the whole story relied too much on the Greg Bear's books, and it assumed that the player was familiar with those stories. With a ME-like codex, it would've been easier to understand what was going on.

A bad omen if I ever saw one.

The original trilogy didn't have much of a story. I fail to see what ME4's story writing has much to do with anything, good or bad.
No, as long as the lore and the characters are good, it's fine.

What was so bad about Halo 4's story other than it heavily leaning on comics and books no one read?
It's not like Halo's story was ever good to begin with so I'm a little skeptical of all the yowling over the writing.
I'm going to remain open-minded since I've felt that BioWare needs new blood.

I don't see what the problem is. It's not like Mass Effect 1 - 3 had some celestial standard of writing. They were about an unlikely team of heroes who come together to defeat a god-like enemy who wants to save the world by destroying, topped deliciously with said god-like enemy not appearing at all until right before the end. That's every Japanese RPG ever written in the history of forever except JRPGs usually tell that story inside of one title instead of dragging it out across three of them.

?? What do you mean, you first see Sovereign on the first mission of the first game... and then have a big battle with him at the end of the first game...

Thought it was something like "PvP confirmed", good to know it isn't.

Which is a shame, because the books were pretty good. Well, except for the William C. Dietz one, who we all know from Mass Effect Deception. ![]()

What's Halo?
It's a type of parachuting.
Seriously, though... it's a type of parachuting. Also, writing a Mass Effect game is nothing like writing a Halo game. I hope. BioWare has a pretty good process in place for massive scale collaborative writing. I'll wait for the final product before judging. And it had better meet every single one of my highly inflated expectations.

If they get good voice actors and a top-notch score, I don't see how the worst case scenario (i.e. bad writing) would be much different than the original series. It was always a case of the gameplay, voice acting, atmosphere and score making up for the writing.

They should hire the people who came up with the IT to write.

Ugh, no way- I understand that it was trying to make the actual ending make some sort of sense, but at the end of the day IT didn't really make any more sense than the BW endings.

I don't care who's writing what, I'm still not going to play the story. Halo 4 wasn't exactly a jaw-dropping, memorable campaign, so it isn't something to get excited about. Granted, I did find Halo 4's sp to be overall better than ME3's campaign.

In other words.....hire a bunch of fanfic writers. Yeah let's not touch that cesspool of despair and hopelessness.

Hey now, they essentially hired fanfic writers for the rebooted Doctor Who series and look how that turned out!
...
Yeah, the Halo guy probably wont be so bad.
