In other words.....hire a bunch of fanfic writers. Yeah let's not touch that cesspool of despair and hopelessness.

They did hire a fanfic writer for the second and third game, Mac Walters

Mac Walters has been a BioWare employee since 2003.

As long as the gameplay is deep and diverse, I could care less about the story.

Eh, I would like at least a decent story, the gameplay is important but I'd rather not have it be such a laughable storyline that it distracts me from the gameplay instead of immersing me into it. To be perfectly fair it is very, very rare that a game does that though so I don't really expect it from a game from a studio that will be more worried about bottomline and hitting a deadline on producing a product instead of having a passion for the product they are producing. End of the day it's about making money for EA and I guess it should be, but I would like to see something that transcends the usual garbage that we see out of EA. JMHO, I hope the Bioware guys knock it out of the park but IDK that they will be allowed to.

I have a feeling EA will ease up a little on BW this time. We all know they can do better if given the chance. I think the Citadel DLC proved that.

I don't. I think dollar signs in EA's eyes will compel them to tell Bioware to bring back Commander Shepard, due to the outrageous amount of money they could make off of that. I know most people aren't fond of the idea because it potentially compromises the story Bioware has crafted, but then...what story? Even with Extended Cut, it largely doesn't make sense because the conquering hero doesn't even get a mention if they survive the Second Battle of the Citadel. That's a big question mark left standing, and I think that ambiguity was intentional to leave things open for the future.

ME4 protagonist has been confirmed not to be Shepard... Are you talking about bringing him back as a cameo? I wouldn't mind that so much, personally...

I honestly thought Halo 4's campaign was the second best of the series.

Halo 2 (Given the unique perspective and it doesn't exactly go where you expected it too)

Halo 4 (I think this game created so much emotion)

Halo 3 (Could have been 1, but seemed really rushed)

Halo 1 (Enough of the same levels!)

The only halos I know are when I drink too much booze. Why anyone would need a writer for that - I don't get it.

Oh, I know Shep isn't the protagonist of this game. But I'm getting very strong Metal Gear Solid vibes from Mass Effect. Essentially:

1. Old protagonist did old things. Everyone was happy.

2. New protagonist does new things. Some people are happy; others resent it. Developer considers new horizons.

3. Old protagonist gets new game. Most people are happy, and a huge amount of money is made.

I suspect Shepard will either get a DLC in ME4 or get a new game further down the line. A cameo is almost guaranteed, since they acknowledged that parts of his/her team will be referenced.

At least it would be creative :)

I think it would have been epic if they actually did plan that in ME3.  I mean, they kind of already messed with us, in a way.  They make you hate cerberus in 1, fight alongside them in 2, then fight against them again in 3.  It was already kind of a mindscrew.  Indoctrination would have been the biggest one of all.

I thought it was kind of obvious with the extremely unusual nightmares and being controlled against his/her will in the Citadel that Shepard was fighting against Indoctrination but succeeded in doing so, and managed to defeat the Reapers before the process could fully begin. Shepard's almost supernatural willpower was brought up more than once. Defeating the weak-willed Reapers doesn't seem that far-fetched.

Why would Bioware ask for someone who don't even work for the same employer do their job tho. Did they fire all the previous writers because ME4 is supposed to be a brand new entry to the franchise, one that has nothing to do with the trilogy?

(sorry if they actually hire writer externally to do the writing, instead of having a dev team dedicated to it. in which case nvm)

Yes, because they only have one writer who must write all the stuff. Script, dialogue, everything! They lock him in, too - poor soul won't see the sun for years. Sad, but allegedly it helps writing different characters so they actually sound and act different. I guess it's the voices you hear when being lonely for long times.

Yup. His Cerberus fan fiction got mistaken for the actual plot of ME2 and ME3. You know. Instead of the real plot about destroying the Reapers. Yeah. I signed up for that game after playing ME1. Too bad I got Cerberus fanwank for two more games.

P.S. **** you Kai Leng and The Illusive Man.

I thought they were building up their satellite studio BioWare Montreal to be leading ME4 and any future ME games while BioWare Edmonton focused on DA3 and whatever their new IP is.
