Some maps make no sense in Dragon Age Inquisition.

In Therinfal Redoubt we see the breach in the sky, but on the map this keep is in the north east of Ferelden far away from Haven. But we see the breach.

In the Hinterlands, that is in the south from Calenhad Lake and near to Haven, we see nothing from the breach. But we get some messages from  Orlais where the people can see it.

Crestwood is in the north from Ferelden near the waked see and in the east of the Calenhad Lake far away from the Frostback mountains or any other mountains but we see mountains. great mountains, nice to see but they make no sense.

And then where on this Ferelden map from Dragon Age Inquisition is Wardens Keep, Vigils Keep, Castle Cousland? and the Dragonbone Wastes does not make sense already between DAO and Witch hunt.

Much of Ferelden is rather hilly to mountainous to begin with but the frostback mountains are massive, those sorts of mountain ranges are often visible for many miles away, also the storm coast to the north that you visit is rather mountainous and I think Crestwood is closer to mountains in general than you might think, it would have to be to make that massive dam remotely viable.

This is still a a game. Sometimes that takes priority over lore.

Seeing the breach isn't lore.

A few mistakes. Nothing I would call "poor design" choices.

I really never noticed that aspect of the game so it really didn't bother me. It is a game after all not an actual place and while it probably would nice if the geography matched the map it isn't a deal breaker IMO.

And while we are at it, what about Skyholds astonishingly clement micro climate ?

ancient magic of various types apparently that's sunk into the very stones of Skyhold, apparently the ancient elves weren't fond of being snowed on.

And why does Lelianna send birds off to Therinfal in the opening INQUISITION! cutscene?  The templars aren't even there yet.  I have a feeling a lot of stuff got moved around the map and switched around in the storylines prior to the release version.

I feel the same. Emprise du Lion was an arid area in the pre-alpha version.

While it's possible we're seeing the northern Frostbacks, it seems more likely to me from Crestwood's location that the mountainy region we're seeing is the one that follows the Coastlands. Take Soldier's Peak for instance, which is located north-east of Crestwood and is smack dab in the middle of a mountain range?

I'll admit, Therinfal being able to see the Breach but it not being visible in the Hinterlands did bother me as well? While I could buy that you could see the Breach from Therinfal in the distance, due to the elevation of the fortress, the altitude of the Breach and the terrain of that part of Ferelden being mostly flat to provide a good line of sight, having it not visible in the Hinterlands made no sense? It should have been visible that close to it?

But then what about when you go back to Hinterlands after the events at Haven.  Should you still see it then?  All the areas you can see the breach in, aren't available to be visited all game

You can see it closed in Haven, so they should be able to use the same effect elsewhere, I would think.

Well there are things that burn hotter with water or even ignite with water but I'd calk it up to being magic given the setting.
