not sure about playing as the little kid, i doubt they will get rid of the option to play as female

Maybe the kid grew up and discovered new "possibilities" - Anything you can imagine!

You know... BW approves diversity.

How would you go about solving the continuity if that was a sequel, especially with the vastly different scenarios just based on the 3 endings ?

Would you impose a canon ? How would you feel if that canon was completely different and contradictory to your playthrough ?

If they made a sequel where ultimately the choices didn't matter (Reapers eventually die, the synthesis doesn't work for long, etc), don't you feel that would invalidate all the impact your choices have, if all possible outcomes are merged in a bland soup ?

If they made a prequel, do you think that all of the players who absolutely disliked the endings (I'm unsure about the exact statistics, but I'm willing to bet it's between 25 and 50%) would buy the game knowing how the story pans out ?

Personally I'd prefer they "canonized" an ending.  Even if it wasn't mine.  It's already "their story" afterall right? that's their defense (and what others use against those that hate all the endings and want a new one.)

It wouldn't invalidate anyones plays.  it just means it's not the way it "officially" panned out.

They did it with Baldur's Gate if i'm not mistaken.  which I could be.  But I KNOW they did it with KotOR and Revan.  hell even KotOR 2 and the Exile (meetra surik or whatever they named her.)  All it does is make YOUR partticular game (unless you played exactly what they chose) not "canon"  and there is nothing wrong with that.

So yes I'd prefer they chose a canon ending honestly.  Synthesis is the only one I completely despise.  But if the game looks interesting enough and they used it I'd still buy and play it.

course them not choosing a canon ending wouldn't stop me from looking into the next game.  It's about the only series I still have interest in that BioWare does after what they did to Dragon Age and SWTOR (and I still sub to SWTOR because it's star wars)

I used to be the type of BioWare fan that would buy anything day one that they did...until DA2 came out.  But that's nothing to do with ME so I'll stop there.

But yah I think they should canonize one.  And it wouldn't stop me from enjoying ME1-3 in the slightest knowing any deviation from their "canon" means "my story" is glorified fan-fic.

...

Yeah, sure, I can understand the appeal. That way there won't be a need to run away to an entirely new galaxy, and we can see how things developed, for better or worse.

Id rather see one of the endings cannonised and see the universe continue. I love the characters and cultures and would love to see what happens post reapers

I just hope the next game isnt the start of the same thing: Human badass pulls together all the different races and factions to fight a greater threat...getting real tired of that cliche. At least let us choose from different races in the next one like we get in DA:O and DA:I instead of human-only. If i wanted to be human i wouldnt play a Sci-Fi or Fantasy game, id play a modern shooter...or just go outside

Would it really be that hard to import saves from Mass Effect 3 into 4?
I mean, all they would have to do is make slight changes, maybe adjust skin so everyone gets the green tint in the synthesis ending and voila.

Move it 100/200 years forward and there you go. Relays rebuilt and council now including the entire galaxy of ME1,2&3.

The way I see it, in next game Shepard and crew is part of history, and they have a monument at the presidium, the council has expanded and now includes Quarians/Geth or both and maybe a few more races, the relays are rebuilt and they decide to send an expedition trough the relays that werent activated, that connect galaxies to one another (if I remember that right)

There you encounter a wast new world, filled with riches but inhabited, and while tasked with expanding the council space there and finding suitable colonizable planet, you might face your own moral qualms about fighting the "locals"

Thus we avoid the boogeyman trope (reapers or another super-duper alien master race) and get put into a realistic setting, that you can eventualy influence, siding with the council, locals or hell, maybe even going Aria T'loak and trying to carve out a piece of space for yourself.

Oh, and please, if any devs ever read this, give us more playable races

Everything thing here is speculation but I believe a good way for bioware to avoid canonizing one of the ending for the New mass effect is to place the setting in a new galaxy such as possibly the andromeda. It could be explained by the reapers developing relays between galaxies to scout out the entire universe. Maybe a joint species crew is sent out by the council (anytime between ME1 and 3) to investigate a new relay. It could echo the first game as a Shepard and co were sent to investigate Eden prime a new crew is sent to investigate this strange relay. As the new crew tampers with the relay they could accidentily acces it and be transported to a new galaxy with New planets species etc. .This theory is very ambitious as it requires bio. to create a whole new lore and mythos for a new galaxy which would be a pain but would certainly breathe a breath of fresh air to the series.

Congrats. This is no longer a theory but a fact.
