I am a big walking bomb and virulence fan. I don't play on perilous as much as some of the others. Tend to stick to threatening a bit more but that's because of my time issues and other things. Threatening lets me relax a bit usually. I'm also a fan of spirit mark because I like to take over Pride demons and let them spend a minute beating down the entire pull for me while I hit them from long range. But that is again because I'm trying to relax a little bit in play and I just enjoy sending pride demons after things. I'd do it to Revenants but they don't seem to want to follow properly after the last couple of patches so they just sit in their rooms. And other players get mad because you keep chests locked down while you have one under your control.
Excellent vid! I promoted much the same in my Untouchable Ice Queen thread, sans FS, because I don't solo as much. FS is definitely the solo version. In a team environment, I'm not backtrack kiting as much, so FS isn't quite as useful for me. I think you could stand to be a little more aggressive with your fadecloak, but I'm sure you will eventually. Some of the fade stepping isn't necessary, as you could simply strafe left and right to avoid the arrows. . . but I've gotten to the point where very little hits me when I decide I want to walk away from it.
Yeah in order to take advantage of FC, you must be upclose, running to the enemies and FC'ing as they're swinging at you, and blowing them up that way. How to do this while on an Ice Mine? Timing + positioning of course -- both of yourself and the IM.
Getting used to using FC aggressively is a shift in playstyle, but one that makes you more effective.

Hey, thx. Yea on perilous I play it more safe when soloing. I don't have much promotions, 16,27,30 in that vid. So can't really take much damage.
Threatening on the other hand is easy solo speed runs.
Recorded a more aggressive threatening playthrough. Under 13 minute run. I won't be able to get away with doing this solo on perilous. I use winter's grasp instead of fade cloak in this vid. That's pretty much my main build. I prefer the extra control.
Here's vid. Quality came out better this time.
It's the same build I've been using until very recently. I swapped Fade Cloak for Mind Blast and kinda prefer that now.
lol:-) i did the same:-) fade step + mind blast combo is very effective even in perilous. + death siphon + 7% heal on kill staff with 1% heal on hit

I'll be honest... I saw the word "solo" and was immediately disinterested.
I think we need a lot less solo guides and a lot more team guides, but that's a lot more challenging to make.

lol. wasn't a guide. More to show a run through of a particular build and playstyle. But ok.
i tested something like this and other variations extensively over the last week and different play styles, for the fourth slot get mind blast if you really want to play recklesly and mobile as it has a very short cool down, and synergizes well with the other 3 abilities and you can use when you need defence and fade cloak / fade step is still on cooldown.

yes I've now tested Mind Blast
this is another Perilous Game using Mind Blast for the first time, would be nice to know if I'm utilizing it correctly?
But I actually find it very useful, its a spammable ability with low cooldown and mana cost, and the little barrier you get can easily save you from life or death being able to shield an auto attack.
however the big problem with mind blast is when you die once you no longer generate barrier the rest of the game, at least from my experience on xbox one.
anyways heres my first game with mind blast testing it on perilous.
I run FC, WG, WB, and EB. You're probably asking yourself... "What? How? Energy Barrage with those skills makes no sense. Why? Scrub." That was until they saw it in action and went... holy biscuits!!!
I'd like to see it in action, because that doesn't at all sound like it would work haha.
Made a quick video showing Ice Mine builds with Fade Cloak and Winter's Grasp.
Did 2 zone examples. One with Fade Cloak and One with Winter's Grasp. I actually prefer the Winter's Grasp build over Fade Cloak.
I play pretty conservatively on perilous. As you can see at start I don't have many promotions. Threatening though, is just rush in and kill everything.
Video quality pretty bad. Dunno what happened. But it's my 1st vid.
interesting, so you use ice mine and just put it under yourself to tank ranged attacks, thats a smart use
its low mana cost makes it appealing.
I think ill have to revisit ice mine
right now I'm debating for my 4th between Mind Blast, Ice Mine, and winters grasp.
maybe ill even switch out FS for 2 of those, still need more time.

Here's the solution: Don't die. Hahahah. Sorry, but until BW fixes it, you'll have to combo it with not-dying, such as with Spirit Mark self revive.

Yeah the deal with perilous is that all enemies still face the same rules and behaviours as the other difficulties, their hp and damage is still jacked up... which means if they miss because you sidestepped, they still do zero damage to you. Same with FC. It is both offensive and defensive. So if you time it correctly, they won't hurt you, but you will put a lot of pain on them.
I do have great gear and promotions so it is easier for me to kill them and harder for them to kill me... but not nearly as much as due to the skill advantage of knowing when they attack, and controlling how the enemy groups up for AoE FC + WB Chain Death Detonate damage. The IM 50% resistence and freezes also help a lot too obviously.
IM pull around a corner, let them gather up, FC WB detonate, all dead. Maybe a MB in there too for shields + basic combo detonation.

Yea, Ice Mine with Frost Armor passive gives you lot of survivability. Good for those with lower promotions.
It's also another spell that allows you to proc Virulence and freeze multiple targets. Ice Mine + Winter's Grasp with Virulence is awesome cc and nets you lots of combos. I can get 30+ combos a game.
My main build is: Walking Bomb / Frost Step / Ice Mine / Winter's Grasp
This is full level 20 build I use:
http://da-skills.net...210,110,c10,010
Tons of CC and Survivability. Not just for you but for team as well. CC and peels for days.
And to be honest, the more i test it the less I am a fan of Fade Cloak. For this particular build at least.
Ice Mine + Fade Cloak combo can be good, but if you pick Frost step that leaves you with one long range spell, Walking Bomb.
Also, skipping Fade Cloak allows me to pick up Unsullied Victim and Power of the Dead passives in Gravelord tree. It's a pretty big damage boost, 45%, when they stack. Boosting WB, FS and WG damage more than makes up for the damage from FC. Plus, those 3 are aoe spells and you spend less time chasing down victims to FC. Overall I think this build ends up doing way more damage.
Comes down to playstyle and what you prefer really.
Edit: Also, if you are deciding on Ice Mine or Winter's Grasp for 4th skill to go with Fade Cloak, try WG with virulence passive. Think it might be better for you judging by your play style in your vids and gives you a 2nd long range spell.

If I'm still around after my Perilous banner, I may make a video for you.

It really isn't a big damage boost if you understood how the WB critical mass works, and how low the enemy health is once you've blown them away with Fade Cloak.
leaves you with one long range spell, Walking Bomb.
That's a problem how? You won't have much mana after WB, and both FC and FS are low mana costs, though arguably FS costs more mana due to moving position away from WS.
Also most players I know with FS are busy trying to do double and triple hits with FS. It is not reliable off-host though.
I run Fade Step, Fade Cloak, Walking Bomb and Winters Blast myself. I love it and it's versatility. I also have Deathward and 15% HOK so it's pretty much invincible as long as I play smart (Perilous).
Yes I've now also testing this, and you're completely right gives you tons of versatility. Also you dont have to waste 2 skills points going to mind blast to put into more passives.
Here's the video where I test it out, unfortunately there was a lot of times where WG was up and I just forgot to use it half the time haha, have to work on that.
but right now its looking like
Winters Grasp
Fade Cloak
Fade Step
Walking Bomb
I'm really liking this build and I'm getting close to figuring out the right order to skill everything.
But heres my Winters Grasp test gameplay, it comes up so much and I don't use it, but maybe there's times I should open up with it more.
The best build I've been using to success on Perilous is Walking Bomb, Blizzard, Spirit Mark, and Ice Mine, with obvious passives, Ice Armor, Winter's Stillness, Death Siphon, and then if I ever play thru level 20, Power of the Dead/Virulence. Never run out of mana, cooldowns almost spammable, and if you ever do go down, you can let go of your mark'd spirit pet to revive.
I've seen builds where instead of Spirit Mark, you can take Fade Cloak, which is nice, especially to set off your bombs.

There's a couple problems I had going that route, you hit your power spike way to late.
I hated being in a situation where I would have to wait until 15 or 16 to "really" feel powerful
the build I run now I reach my core at level 11.
Point taken. However, the amount of aoe madness you can cause with my build, and survivability is worth the wait. I don't mind using Horror and Winter's Grasp while I wait to get some of the passives and Ice Mine/Blizzard at later levels. I start out getting Walking Bomb, and you're mighty powerful with that at level 7/8 (with Death Siphon) Spirit Mark at level 9/10, you can get that with a good party in 1 Perilous run and be fighting strong on the next.
