Guard should be buffed to be on par with Barrier

 For example, we said we couldn't escape the one-hit knockout from the Demon Commander?

 

Who is this "we"?  Why are you grouping everyone into this by saying we?  There are plenty of people like myself that learned how to avoid the Demons pop up.   Taking all that damage that you did before he was nerfed is what made people like me learn how to dodge it.

 

Now the Demon commander is a joke.  you can purposely take the hits and not be worried...

I'm sure this is in other threads but how do you avoid it? I can if I have something like leaping shot but for anyone without some sort of flip or teleport power once the "smoke" gets on you there doesn't seem to be a way to avoid.

I don't think guard should be buffed to the same level as barrier but does deserve some kind of buff, guard is absolutely useless in perilous, 1 hit takes the majority of your guard straight away.

Its my suggestion >:D :P

My suggestion would be roughly x10 the current guard which would make it about half what barrier is.

Currently guard is 25% of health which equates in most cases to about 150 max. Barrier is 3000 without upgrades.

Guard is easier to generate than barrier except for arcane warrior which is aanother debate.

I would set max guard to 1500 and give it a test run for a month or 2 and then reajust if necessary.

I think guard does need a fix. Always love having full guard, you get hit once and oops now it's all gone. So useful.

Off host it's sometimes impossible due to lag but jumping is your best bet.

The way I see it, barrier is far too overpowered simply from the fact that you can cast it on every single party member.  It renders tactics completely useless when an entire group can just run in and facetank everything without having to worry about dying.  It nullifies the need for a skilled tank simply because he doesn't need skill to survive.  How many truly skilled Legionnaires have you run into recently?  Really few in my experience.  Most of the Legionnaires I meet start dying when their barriers drop.

 

The assassin sometimes says: "Patience and skill win every battle".  Right now it's "barrier wins every battle".  As squishy as the assassin is, there really is little to no need to be careful when you can depend on barrier to live.

 

IMHO, barrier should be made less spammable and only 1 target of the caster's choice can benefit from it at a time.  You do have buttons (F1-F4) to select your teammates.  It should be a useable thing in MP.

 

Dodging for rogues should be fixed so it doesn't rubberband you to where you were previously whenever you're not hosting.  Dodging should be an integral part of every rogue build.  Squishy, but nimble glass cannons that require skill, timing and positioning to survive.

 

Guard should be the sole way for tank classes to survive.  The legionnaire is fine as is.  It takes skill (and gear) to become a proper tank.  Katari and Reaver really could use a buff in ranged defense; (a skill that renders them immune to ranged attacks for a short time maybe?)

 

Every class should have a proper role other than opening treasure rooms.  That's just my opinion though.
