I always found that positioning quivers and daggers on the hips look a lot more visually appealing and more practical. What do the rest of you think?

Quivers should be visible upon one's back, and a (dagger) sheath upon one's hip, or anywhere it's desirable to hold/hide. Maybe this game has eschewed so many things, that they didn't think that we'd notice yet another omission. I'd also enjoy a sense of realism, and this game falls flat on so many aspects.

Quiver on the hip?... erm... no
Daggers, yes. Having them on the back always seemed wrong. Honestly, who puts a pair of daggers on their back? But its been that way since Origins. Swords (for Warriors w/ shields) were the same way for both DAO and DA2, and we finally got them on the hip finally with DAI. So maybe next game will have daggers on the hips

Daggers on the hip and quiver could go either way but im used to it on the back

That video made me consider playing a bow rogue. And this is from a guy who's been steady melee since Origins.

I saw the Lars Anderson video about two months ago now and I have to say I thought of it instantly when I saw the thread title. The things he learned or relearned changed my perspective on the bow. Some of the best games support archers but I don't think they have researched it as far as Lars.

For those who find side quivers weird, they were more common than back ones.
I don't mid either way, although I prefer my daggers to look like...well daggers and swords to be simple and practical. Some of the ones in the DA series look like you'd be more likely to bludgeon someone to death with them or that they would break however some would find this approach boring,

Have any of you seen this vid?

Yeah, I've seen the video but when I posted the Lars Anderson vid, I was more interested in how most historical archers holster their quivers at their hips and how most movies usually depict archers with their quivers at their backs.
I think quivers on the hip look good as it is refreshing change from how archers are often depicted in entertainment. Take the Elf from Dragon's Crown:

One of the very rare depictions of archers in video games who holster their quivers at their hips and is quite well-designed.

It all comes down to practicality. Andersen is right to point out that a hunter or scout seldomly may have had the quiver on their back. However, for example, English Longbowmen did in fact have them on their backs. Imagine the ripple going through the ranks, standing in formation and everyone is more or less accidentally feeling up on their neighbour's funparts.
Honestly, I would like cosmetically different quivers that also give slight archery related buffs; like with the Demon Hunter in Diablo 3.
I'm all with you on the daggers thing, though. That has always looked odd.
P.S.: You know what I appreciate about Dragon Age, though? Noone ever shoots their bow in a 90° tilted angle, save for Archer's Lance. I'm not about everything being super realistic, yet I'm still glad they didn't give into that.

I think there should be options for players to decide where they want to position their quivers and daggers.

Good luck with that request. We're still attempting to get party members to talk to each other. Maybe an "autofire" option would be nice for PC gamers. Perhaps a "tactical mode" that didn't suck.....could we pretty please, get control of our characters? Once it's unpaused, all hope is abandoned - no characters follow their commands. There is a disconnect between live action and this horse $hite "tac cam" mode. Click to move/loot. I've played two hours. I want to play this game, but this company has to start fulfilling it's promises, I've been patient.
As for this thread's topic? I gave my opinion earlier. I enjoy realism and immersion with a game like this. I don't buy quivers on a hip. Historical evidence points to arrows in a grouping/quiver on an archer's back. I also wouldn't care about any oversight in this regard IF Boooware/EA had done their job correctly. I'm NOT playing this POS game with a controller. PC Gamers were lied to and we constantly need to remind them of that. It's consumer fraud. Enjoy your broken game. I want to enjoy it in a better state. I'll wait....(looks downwards at my imaginary watch)....Tick, tock! I see a new mole forming.....

Daggers, maybe, but I think having a side quiver would be awkward as hell when you're running around. It would be one thing if you're mostly standing in place at a designated battle the way a lot of archer did, but archers in the game play very mobile. A quiver would have to be so long that it would hinder your movement.

Bioware has to tone down the size of the daggers first lol
Quivers are fine imo

Uh, yeah the title of this topic does end with "... in future games".
I'm disappointed about the tac cam in Inquisition as much as everyone else but I have very high doubts that it could be "fixed" in the current game no matter how many patches Bioware will release.
Daggers at the hip would be fine. The thing with quivers on the hip is that it isn't something most people would have an issue with. The image of back quivers is something so heavily ingrained in the popular consciousness that most people aren't really going to mind it that much.
True, the back quiver look has become quite iconic but I believe the side/lower hip quiver look could become more appealing to consumers if a popular franchise like Dragon Age started using the look in their future games.
Heck, Leliana's original concept art in DA Origins had her with a rear hip quiver look.

The thing with quiver placement comes down to mobility vs. ease of use. Quiver on the back in keeps the arrows in on the run and the quiver out of the way while allowing the archers hands to remain free whereas getting arrows from a quiver on the hip is easier and quicker (unless you are used to a back-quiver like me). Absolutely nothing prevents moving the quiver between the two positions as the situation dictates, though.
Crossbow bolt quivers have been on the hip mainly because the traditional crossbow bolt is just around 12 inches long, making the quiver compact and much easier to make secure.
Now daggers (or short swords, as they really are), those should stay on the hips. It doesn't even look cool when they are on the back, just stupid :/
